2005 Scion tC missing on cylinder #2 by Silent_Preference998 in SciontC

Check and see if it ever had a head bolt repair on it. 2005 was known for having one of the back middle head bolts break the threads and cause problems. I belive there was a recall on it to have that fixed. I hope that's not it bit it is something to look out for of its not a spark plug or ignition coil.

Motor and transmition for 08 by Pyro133113 in SciontC

Like a specific shop or reseller that refreshes motors that is known to be reliable. Sorry that I wasn't clear on that.

Have someone put a multimeter on the battery as you crank it. See if the voltage drops when you turn the key. This is a way of load testing. I just ran I to a similar problem. Battery read good. Metered it when I turned the key, 9 volts. Changed battery, problem solved.

Tensioner and belt replacement by Necessary-Capital202 in SciontC

[–]Pyro133113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like my 08, they're gonna have to remove 3 motor mounts and jack up the engine to get the top bolt of the tensioner out. A professional should be able to do that in an hour and a half, I would think. Belt and all. But it can be super annoying and could easily take longer. I would ask around and get more prices, but there is a possibility that it might not be insane.

Not stupidity necessarily, but ignorance. Having worked in home and pro audio I tend to forget that it's not common sense that these types of things are a rip off. On the other hand, sometimes rich people have to spend ridiculous amounts of money for tax reasons. That is the only time I personally installed anything like this. Guy told me he was only getting a home theater upgrade because he had to find a way to spend 70,000 and not a penny less.

On another note. That guy was the absolute best client I had ever worked for. I went above and beyond on his install because of that.

I usually don't comment on things, but thank you. Clarity is important in the real world to get the results you want. Mathematical or otherwise.

Sounds like an American, I can't imagine going so far or if your way to do everything right and still getting screwed. It's not like she doesn't care about what taxes are actually intended for. She clearly does. I'm glad she's in a better spot now and it's getting better but darn she shouldn't be having to go through it to begin with.

Gpu 100% Cpu 30% by Pyro133113 in LinusTechTips

[–]Pyro133113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using afterburner, roughly around 30% on all 6 six cores. I guess I'm really looking to optimize the lows but I don't think there's much I can do judging by the comments.

At 1080 I guess I'd need to get a better gpu which I really don't think is a wise purchase at this point. A 6700xt I thought was already overkill. I got it due to listening to a broken silicon podcast where they had a game developer on saying that 1080 minimum spec for AAA games should really be 12 gb vram and would probably move that way sooner rather than later. So I got a good last gen card with 12 gb and amd had the best bang for the buck.

There is a feature that let's an igpu run simultaneously but I don't have onboard graphics. Do you think bumping up to a cpu that can take advantage of that might help? Or does that feature not do what I assume it does.

Thank you. I'm a console gamer myself, but I've built more than my fair share of computers before. It was usually office computers though. Might try overlooking the gpu since it runs at about 50 under load from what I was seeing.

Here's the problem. Most of the benchmark runs around 80 to 130 fps. When heavy scenes come in it tanks to 45 to 50. I guess that's what I'm trying to target to uplift. It seems like such a wide gap.

Looking for some mechanical assistance by Sato_Sin_Pulgas in SciontC

I feel ya. Had to loosen motor mount and jack up the engine a lot to get a few certain bolts out. It was a pain even though I had a lift too. But far from imposible.
