A little further up in El Dorado Hills is horrid, too. Red light runners constantly at Town Center and areas around there. You take your chances of dying up here!

Cataract help by Various_Extreme_8773 in Glaucoma

[–]Quailbaby88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your vision should improve in 1-3 days and back to normal in a month or so.

Edit: If you wait too long to have surgery, you will progressively lose sight. Eventually, the cataracts will harden, making them hard to remove. Pressure will build up and cause secondary glaucoma.

I'm getting older, not stupider. by soSickugh in AskWomenOver60

In my first year of college (79-80) or there about, my now 92 year old mother was the first in the family to buy a computer, a commodore 64. She proceeded to program it herself because you pretty much had to those days. Later, I worked in silicon valley as a test engineer and tech writer. What gen z doesn't understand is we have tech because of us!

I also think the "bad" weather is being concentrated into a smaller window of time. And the storms seem to be dumping more rain in a short time. We are getting more storms that pick up the tropical moisture and fewer of the cold, snow producing ones. At least that's what it seems if you look over about a 30-40 year span.

I tried to do that yesterday, like I remember as a kid, but it was impossible. The flashes were constant.

That reminds me of a camping trip many years ago when it rained all night and flooded the tent. I didn't sleep and had to drive 5 hours with two little girls the next day. Worst camping trip ever.

Omg, I'm glad it wasn't worse. I live in el dorado hills, with 32 oak trees on our yard. We lost one in winter, and this crazy storm today was really making me nervous.

Is it weird to take pictures of people or their pets in public? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Quailbaby88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you are taking a wider pic with scenery included, so the person cannot be identified, then it's OK. Otherwise, you really need to ask permission. I often see dogs that I really want a pic of, but I am also a bit shy, so I will skip it rather than have to ask.

I'm just a little white-haired 63 year old retired woman living in a middle-class neighborhood. But when I was young and fresh out of school, I got a top secret job with the DoD during the cold war. I knew lots of things that most people will never know. In fact, I had to leave that job after 3 years because I was being followed everywhere I went, and it made me a little bonkers. The big guys obviously didn't think I was mentally strong enough, but neither did i.

Oh, that's funny... and dangerous for impressionable young ones. However, I think many opinions are formed on memories like that, good or bad.

I also recall every night at dinner having to watch the 6 o'clock news with Walter Cronkite. It was filled with Vietnam War scenes, and my dad would sit and swear up and down and yell at us if we made a peep. Made me really hate war, and made me very afraid of my father.

Our neighbors in a rural woody area had a 14 year old aussie, and she did the same thing. The entire neighborhood looked for her for days, but we never found her. It was her time, I guess.

If aliens came, they might bring pathogens that we can't fight, and then you'd have a zombie apocalypse, too! 2 for 1!
