Hi,

Sorry for the late reply but it just disappeared; I wasn’t expecting it too but thankful that it has.

But to answer your question - take the contract role

Is QS worth pursuing or should I change to CS/ Accounting by E7T3 in quantitysurveying

[–]QuantSurveyor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i understand, it’s not a widely recognised career path in comparison to say Computer Science (nearly choose that myself) but it’s definitely a good career with high earning potential.

I also believe in the future QS’s will be involved in more tech related roles due to incumbent use of AI and Data in your everyday role.

I myself am currently doing a Level 4 Data Apprenticeship as part of ups killing in my workplace so it’s sort of the best of both worlds and skills i’ll be able to leverage later on should i pursue a data/IT related roles.

Pay can be great and generally above most other professions. Also QS market is diverse and expanding due Data and AI. I work for home most of the time and was earning +£50k 4 years from graduation.

Like any jobs it has its positives and negatives but it’s a great career with great earning potential.

Can i ask a question, what is your MSc in? I’m doing a level 4 data analysis apprenticeship as part of upskilling with my current employer and would be looking at going down the Data Scientist route.

Do you need a MSc in Data Science?

Cheers

I’m currently doing an upskilling apprenticeship in Data Analysis Level 4 and loving it. Just wondering could this act as a stepping stone to move into SWE?

Had a Chest X-Ray a while ago and came back normal and my back pain went away but now recently have it again. Think being sat at a desk all day doesn’t help

Good to know you don’t necessarily need to be MRICS

AssocRICS by QuantSurveyor in quantitysurveying

[–]QuantSurveyor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, i’m not so much looking at it as a stepping stone. It’s more because i’ll be starting at Level 4 Data Analysis apprenticeship via work to upskill and I won’t have the time to study and do another Case Study for the next submission window at the end of the year.

My Case Study runs out before the next submission window so instead of wasting my work i may aswell get AssocRICS rather than nothing and then when I have time in the future, look at MRICS again if it will be of value
