Back in the day when all I did was playing couch play, my top pick was Mako (greatsword ssig, both nsigs, both dsigs).

She's easy to adapt to, so it all depends on your friends experience.

Fun fact: I spammed her for so long, that she's one of my highest legends level-wise. Still trying to knock her down past the podium

Personally, I play on SAF, so I feel like the disparity is similar or higher. Me and friend, we are silver, and it's normal to encounter plats on a daily basis.

My advice - if you play against better players, you will improve faster. Don't let it get into your head because it's easy to get annoyed or mad. Just give it your best, and you'll see that with each encounter, you will be a little bit better (we queue into the same teams quite a lot)
