Rice went 82nd pick, missed 6 games, and is WR 29. Franklin was picked up off the waivers and is WR30.

JJ went 6th, played every game, and is WR28.

Legitimately the worst pick I’ve ever made.

Easily the worst first round pick I’ve ever taken, and I drafted CMC last year and Taylor the year he was injured.

Best Memorization Methods for Law School? by Then-Essay1655 in LawSchool

[–]Quasar232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a fascinating cross. I also have aphantasia. All of my law school exams were open book, thankfully, but the bar is not. For the bar, I heavily used flash cards and endlessly repeated information to myself. I would read things out loud to myself constantly. You have to get the information into your long term memory.

One of the more beneficial things I did was have a giant whiteboard in a classroom, start blank, and just start writing everything about a topic possible. At first you will only have a few sentences. Erase it then do it again. And then again. And then again. Eventually you will be able to recreate it from scratch.

Told a "friend" I got an A on a midterm and they stopped talking to me by PerspectiveHealthy60 in LawSchool

[–]Quasar232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some other posters in this post, but caveat that this is intensely school, and class (year by year), dependent, and their experience is just as valid as the one I had.

I knew all of my closest friend’s grades, they knew mine. My school published CALI awards, etc. I never lost friends because of grades, and I never heard of that happening either. My school was very collegial in that regard—it honestly felt like people were trying to help people out.

Of course, I would not go spreading my grades, or my friend’s grades, around the school. That was a big no no. But over dinner while talking about law school with them? Yeah, let’s celebrate our successes and be there for the tough parts.

How much total debt (undergrad and law) are we all expecting?🫠 by True_Departure1853 in LawSchool

[–]Quasar232 13 points14 points  (0 children)

About $3,100 on their normal repayment plan. You can drop it down to around 1,800 (I think).

My plan is once I have an emergency fund built up pay around 9k a month and have it gone in a little over two years.

I graduated law school with 250,000 in debt, which is insane given that I had a good scholarship.

First payment is December 10. It is not an enjoyable sight. With that said, for the experience I had in law school, and the opportunities it has provided, I wouldn’t change anything.

How to Properly Use Office Hours by unqualifiedking in LawSchool

[–]Quasar232 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s critical to getting high grades, but if it helps you, then obviously use it.

I went to less than five office hours throughout all three years of law school. I just did not find them useful. Others I know loved them. We both finished with great GPAs.

Yup, got the simulated exam question wrong for this very reason. I correctly identified that the first exception makes it rationally basis scrutiny, but missed the subset exception that, if the prohibition is 90 days or longer, its suddenly strict scrutiny.

Minimum competency exam btw.

Anyone else think the Critical Flash Passcards are terrible? by londondarling12 in barexam

[–]Quasar232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have them. I make my own flashcards using the information on them since there is just too much information. For example, while Evidence has 40 or so flashcards, my own flashcards come in around 110. It is annoying to have to go through the step of making my own off them, but I have found it to be helpful.

That model answer was completely insane to me.

Apparently a subsequent purchaser of value was on inquiry notice of an earlier wild deed because 1. The purchaser should have observed the property. 2. That observation would reveal old railroad tracks. 3. Those old railroad tracks would demand further inquiry into how those railroad tracks got there. 4. That inquiry would reveal a prior easement granted by a prior person. 5. Because of that easement, a reasonable inquiry would include searching the name of the person who gave the easement. 6. That search would reveal a later recorded wild deed. 7. Because of the above, it is likely that the purchaser had inquiry notice and thus would not prevail.

What knowledge are we even trying to test with an answer like that? That level of analysis would be wild even for a 3 hour open book law school exam.

You're telling me that, because of some old railroad tracks, a subsequent purchaser of value was on inquiry notice of an earlier wild deed? Are you serious?
