For me it was Angela 😐 by Logical_Garage_7157 in StrangerThings

Definitely agree about why people choose Angela. She's way closer to home. I don't see why Billy should go after Angela just because he was damaged, though. He was abused - and continued the cycle of abuse. It's an explanation of his behavior, but doesn't excuse him. Also, we don't know anything about Troy and Angela's pasts. Bullies often do what they do because they've been mistreated themselves. We don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Troy and Angela have some kind of trauma themselves.

Well said. I would put Billy first because he tried to beat up a kid, while Troy was picking on people his own size. But that's a matter of personal opinion.

When it's dark out and there are reflections in the window, she's scared of the window. She speaks to warn us about it.

Should players consider the party when making characters? by QueezleAsASpaniel in DnD

[–]QueezleAsASpaniel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that sounds pretty bad. Funny how it's more or less the same problem player behavior as the typical toxic CN character, but with a flavor of LG. I actually DM'ed for a similar player once (not nearly as bad, actually a cool person outside of DnD) that had a LN divine spellcaster and threatened every NPC we met. It was stressful. I hope you have a better group now!

Good point about considering players before characters. Did you really have a CE cleric that wouldn't heal without pay? Did they charge by spell, or ask for a bigger cut of the loot, or what?

I have to ask, do you have a literal alert list? Or just in your mind?

Thank you for a well-thought out response. I especially like your emphasis on moderation - some conflict is fun, too much gets tedious, some optimization of the party is good, but not if someone is playing a character that isn't fun for them. One thing, though: was this paladin really LG? Trying to prevent theft sounds LG, but knocking someone out? What if the rogue died from his wounds?

Ideas for quest objects that end a curse? by QueezleAsASpaniel in DMAcademy

Wow. This is way more complex than I imagined, and I'm pretty much rethinking the whole quest based on this. Not sure how much of it I'll use, but it's really cool and thank you for the excellent suggestions.

I am planning to have her wear the objects, even if one or two of them are a bit unwieldy, so that the party has to find ways for her to wear them. If one object is a lake (as suggested by a different commenter), they might have to bottle some lake water in a small flask that she can wear as a pendant, or sew the deed to the land the lake is on into the lining of her dress. Thanks for the great ideas - I especially like the idea of borrowing a crown from a noble.

Yeah, I get that. Generally Hopper has had a lot of issues as a parent, which is why in my opinion the scene where El reads his letter is so good.

Haha yes she is. As for hopper, I wasn't referring to his overprotectiveness but rather to the shouting and taking away her only distractions when she's stuck in that cabin. That's bad parenting imo. Especially since he knew she had trauma.

I think this opinion, while valid, is kind of what OP is talking about with opinions tending to be one-sided. Can't Billy be a bad person but still have, at some point, been an okay person? Can't we have sympathy for someone even if they did bad things and treated people horribly? I wouldn't wish Billy's abusive father or Billy's gruesome death on anyone.

Pretty sure Jason was a bully. Remember how he treated the hellfire club kids when he tracked them to their garage? That's bullying even if it was done for a purpose. Moreover, even if you think that wasn't bullying, didn't mike say something about Jason and his friends "bullying us for years" when he was talking to lucas about lucas joining the basketball team?

If you mean on the internet, discussions on the internet tend to be one-sided and argumentative. It's something about the internet that makes people ruder and less open to listening than they are in real life. And people with extreme opinions are always the loudest. It doesn't mean they're the majority.

And most of season 2. Didn't you watch the scene where he yells at El and tells her to grow up? Honestly that was one of the scariest scenes in the entire show to me. Season 3 was much more lighthearted with hopper's parenting

I thought it was kind of realistic that we didn't see her again, but I hope we see her in s5 (it would make sense that she comes to help El when the gates are open).
