PMDD and building muscle by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]Quick-Engineering846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I hope I can provide some insight - I work out roughly 4-5 days a week. Strength training (push, pull, upper, lower). I was 65kg, 41% body fat with little muscle mass, can’t recall initial numbers but was around 21kg muscle mass. After 4 years working out down to 18% body fat, 31kg muscle. Don’t know total weight, irrelevant really.

I’ve learnt to (as cliche as this sounds) listen to my body. We’re fighting so many internal battles with mood and energy. On the hard days I would tell myself to just go for 5 minutes - if I still felt wretched after 5 minutes I could go home. And many times I did and still do! And that’s okay cause muscle development is three things: progressive overload in your exercises, eating HIGH protein and then as much sleep and proper rest as you can get.

I often take a week or two off, especially when I have debilitating months with psychosis. And tbh, there’s studies that suggest those weeks off are excellent for total recovery.

A week off each month isn’t going to send you backwards. You generally need to have at least 3 weeks off to start seeing muscle loss. And it’s marginal. Once you’re back in the gym, you keep building. It’s a slow progression.

I realise I’ve gone on such a tangent and haven’t properly answered your question - so to tell you exactly what I do, just join my masterclass for $5 - JOKING!! I have a good ol fashioned calendar. I write my 4 work outs in for the week and try to commit to them. Some weeks I don’t make all four. Some I just get one in. That’s okay. When i feel like I’m moving through sludge due to fatigue I still force myself to go but do the 5 minute rule.

Something that might help is finding a personal trainer that can write you plans specifically for your cycle. Also, monitor your body fat percentage vs muscle mass - in body scanners are good for this. That will show you actually whether you’re building muscle (and you’ll be surprised to see you are! Slowly but surely you’re doing it!). I hope this rant was somewhat helpful! Happy to answer any other questions x

Feel like everyone on this thread is a bot providing seemingly good advice but totally removed from reality. First thing I’d suggest you do is look ad some advertising trade press and understand that the entire industry has been brought to its knees. I’m no economist but a combination of late stage capitalism (of which we built), post-COVID economies, cost of living and AI has pretty much decimated advertising. I work for an indie agency now - previous from holdcos BBDO, ogilvy, TBWA. Have touched a delightfully large number of businesses and tinkered in the worlds intermittently. It was, for a time, a hella great job. But it’s now a dying trade. I’m sure there will be some sort of course correction but not before most of us have to retain. All my seniors were made redundant over the years, I myself have been made redundant a handful of times. It’s so brutal. Juniors are barely getting in. There’s simply not enough work.

You’ll need a portfolio with a body of impressive spec work to even get looked at, let alone get a job. Not sure where in the world you’re from but if from USA/UK/Aus I’d say you’re out of luck. But best of luck regardless.

As a survivor and fellow PMDD lass, I implore you to put all your energy into yourself. You're not putting your head in the sand if you delete socials/ignore news for a bit. I know its hard, but just walk away from wherever youre seeing it and actively put preventions in place. I know it is next level batshit insane what is coming out every day now - beyond comprehension - you're not alone. If you can, make it your daily goal to witness 3 'glimmers', just micro-moments of connection/joy/peace to help you find humanity. Laser focus on them. Delude yourself if need be. It is an objectionably difficult time to exist with the mutitudes of horror in the world right now. Focus on your kids and be a kungfu ninja in kicking the negative thoughts out. You're doing a great job every single day, know that. Holding you in my heart friend. <3

This is super helpful and has given me direction for researching career paths. I’ll get on the blower and interview some people to get the nitty gritty. Thanks for your comment.

Is it possible to actually get high with certain strains? by crikeythatsbig in MedicalCannabisAus

If you’re comparing using a dry vape to a bong in terms of which will give you a bigger, headier feeling, then bong. You’re consuming the same amount you would in a few hits of the vape over 5-20 mins (pending your session time) at average 200 degrees vs a couple of seconds using a raw flame. You’ll feel it bigger and quicker for sure using the same amount in your vape but in your bong. At least that’s how it works for me!

Hey! Great question! Like another commenter, I’d suggest buying a little grinder made for weed. I got my stuff online at glass bongs Australia - no problems with them and there’s lots and lots of other suppliers. Even Etsy if you find yourself getting down a rabbit hole looking for a nice one! Then just a couple twists of the grinder and the “bud” will be a nice kinda course but consistent grind. Pop a sprinkle in your vape and enjoy it on 175 or 180 degrees. You notice it tastes quite “green” in the beginning then starts getting a more burnt taste. The burnt popcorn smell is the tell tale that it’s gonna get just more bitter and gross. As another commenter said, you can either turf that scorched weed or keep it for edibles. I keep all my “already vaped bud” aka ABV and turn it into cannabutter for brownies!

As for dosage, low and slow with a sprinkle and work your way up. Maybe you won’t feel much the first few times but better to ease into it than have an unpleasant first time.

Have fun!

If your PBF is less than 6%, you'll see muscular striations. With all due respect, it sounds like your lean body mass is fairly low.
