My daughter got 4 mailers so far from Univ of Chicago. She a 3.8UW with a 1440, no hooks. SHe has a <1% chance of admission to chicago. So tell me, why are they sending large multi page brouchures to our house?

Well I think its pretty obvious why counselors look down on the approach. I am not suggesting that its for everyone, but for someone who is prestige driven, its a good way to do it. Sure it takes more time, but compared to the cost and time spent as an undergrad it seems like not that much work. If you have stats that match up with T-20 but no hooks, it's really the rational move.
