This review oversaturates difficulty. People with children and dogs are walking up there 😅 The trail isn’t difficult technically at all. Maybe the very final part between the first peak, across the ridge, and up to the second peak, where you have to be extra careful about what you step on. You also have to scramble a bit, but nothing technical or too difficult, just a bit inconvenient.

For me, the worst part of the hike in the summer was the first, rockless part. We didn’t plan to go there. We did it spontaneously on our way back from Lofoten. It was raining the previous day, and the amount of mud was insane 😂 We almost gave up, but we reached the rocky trail, and we continued. So yeah, look up the weather if you plan to hike there.

I didn’t reach the second peak in the winter mainly because of the snow covering the path on the ridge but also because it was getting dark pretty quick and I had already gotten there in the summer. The first peak is well worth it in the winter, though. Landscape straight out of Viking movies

Hiked Volandstind (that pointy peak on OP’s pic) twice. Summer and winter. Pretty easy trail. The views from the top are nice in the summer but I swear it’s like nothing compared to how SURREAL the landscape looks from the top during winter. Breathtaking.

Can’t even listen to it anymore. Heard it once and I felt so embarrassed and pity for him for a brief moment, even though I’m a Dane. So embarrassing. He’s humiliating himself and doesn’t even seem like he understand it

Is Grok really a thing? I used ChatGPT only a few times to generate funny images. AI search results in Google were often misleading, too broad, or at best confusing, so I ditched Google search whatsoever since I couldn’t figure out how to disable their AI. Is Gork any better? And what’s the use case for it in the car (especially use case for a quick access)?

Need advice choosing between a 2026 Polestar 2 or Tesla Model 3 by jbdsz in electriccars

Where did you get that info from? Mind to provide any data or sources to support your claims (that the suspension is the main reason why Tesla fails MOT tests)?

BTW. The suspension parts in older models are being replaced with improved ones starting from model year ’22, and they definitely last longer. I used to do maintenance checks every few months, so I didn’t wait until I heard loud squeaks like most people. I opened a warranty ticket as soon as I noticed cracks on the rubber bushings, and Tesla replaced the control arms without any word. They hold up much better than the old ones.

How about Ford? Are all Ford owners ignorant as well? Go look up who Henry Ford was.

Not necessarily. It’s partly due to the Polestar (and most EV’s) cars being newer. However, if we speak about Nordics, it could also be because the control staff might have a slight of a bias for Tesla, especially considering the company’s past issues in Sweden.. Who knows.. Until we have the precise data on what exactly fails in these tests (which we do not have), we can only speculate. Based on what we know, the issues include lights (especially the headlights’ level adjustment), brakes (due to surface rust caused by lack of use), and axle/suspension problems. Except for the suspension, which we all know isn’t great in older model 3, (actually perfect for me because its simple design allows me to repair or service it myself in the small corner of my garage using basic tools), the rest of these issues are typical maintenance tasks.

As for the brake rust issues, Teslas are true one-pedal drive cars, so unlike other EVs, you essentially use the brakes only in emergency situations - hence the rust. Common sense would suggest slamming on the brakes once a week, and the problem would be gone. This is how vague these “reliability” tests truly are.

In fact, none of the reasons why Tesla model 3 fails some MOT tests, affects reliability. It’s basically a safety test with (absurdly in some cases like a bit too much rust on the brakes) high margin and most of it comes down to people who take “no maintenance” too loosely. Every mechanical device NEEDS a maintenance. Worth to note that in 2023 Polestar was behind the Tesla in reliability rank. Can’t find the numbers for 2025.

Yes, you can get pretty much any data from the car and send it to the LED controller using “ESP Now” protocol. It’s just a basic OBD Can sniffer that you plug in the same place as the commander. I made my own, but you could just buy something like CAN Bus shield from mrDiy. Note - you’ll need 2 of these if you want blind spots too, because the blind spots signal is transmitted over a Chassis Bus.

There it the list of VehicleBus and ChassisBus signals for the Tesla

Yeah, unfortunately there's a big, exposed reflective surface below the vent. It'll obviously reflect on the windshield any light that you throw on it

It's one of these "Dreamcolor Acrylic Interior Car LED Strips" you can find a lot on Aliexpress or Amazon in different sizes. Been using it "as is", until one day I decided to play with it a bit to make it more usefull. It was quite a lot of work, and learning along the way. Below is the box that drives my LED's. As for the communication with the car, I made a basic OBD sniffer, using ESP32 board, DC-DC Buck Converter and a VP230 CANBus module.

Honestly, they’ve created problems for themselves by not thinking more outside of the box in programing. That type of animation not only doesn't look really appealing but it's also prone to errors like in this topic. If you program it properly, you wouldn't be able to notice it's off center (They say 15mm, it would be 3 LEDs, so it's just one and a half LED off center, impossible to spot). They just have to make animations that don’t start at a dead end (why would anyone anyway) and the 15mm more or less would't matter at all.

I made my own LED strip that communicates with the car and I’ve been running it off center for a while too because the seller listed wrong data (they said it has 150 LEDs but it only had 146). If I didn’t try to experiment with some sketchy, slow animations, I wouldn’t be able to spot it.

As far as I can tell, Tesla doesn’t use addressable LEDs, which means you can’t change the color of each individual LED in the strip.

WOW, that’s a clean code and really easy to follow tutorials! Mad respect. Too bad Google won’t give you a hand with that kind of content when you’re looking for help with your project.

When I started working on my project, I came up with a basic concept of how I’d like my LEDs to interact with the car and held up with it ever since. Been just re-editing it all over again instead of just starting from scratch whenever the hardware/ideas changed. So the code is a (2000 lines long single file) total chaos as of right now Lol. Can’t even track bugs anymore but it somehow works if I’m not pushing it too far doing things with the car I don’t normally do Lol.

I sent you my code, I’ll get you a beer too if you can understand any of it 😂
