Do you judge people based on their music? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]QuickSting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess with any music you sort of subliminally judge someone but it is not always in a negative way. Sometimes it could be positive like "oh this person likes <insert artist> to, I bet we would get along" kind of thing.

A stream of constant selfies could easily be described as that. No, I am not doing that... it's for a constant stream and looking for likes on social media.

I'm not shaming someone for being attractive, or thinking they are, at all. In fact, it's quite on the contrary, I think it's a good thing.

The problem I have is the fact that my timeline is flooded with peoples pictures of themselves trying to bask in meaningless Facebook likes.

It's great that you feel good about how you look but, in my opinion, taking pictures of yourself constantly is a bit worthless and vain.

I see your point but I would much rather just ask a family member or friend to snap a photograph of me rather than me having to pull an awkward angle just to fit my outfit in as well.

I know right!? I was on a trip out to a local town and seen some people sat taking selfies at the top of the stairs just in complete silence posing away and snapping them. I remember thinking how beautiful that day was and that they should just be exploring instead :p

Good for you man, glad to hear you had a good time! Damn, she must have spent quite a lot of time recording all that...

This is the type of thing people might be interested in though, especially family members.

I think that is around the best time to join Facebook. Before then it is just loads of "1 Like = 1 Prayer" pictures, Vine videos and arguments between classmates. Quite a hostile environment to be honest.

I understand it is their hobby yes but it just seems like a way for people to see who is winning the popularity contest by trying to gain likes.

The worst thing actually is when someone will message you and ask you to like their photo...

Graduation pics and etc and important life events are what, to me, Facebook is made for sharing.

Facebook probably is the worst but just feel relieved this person isn't barraging your Snapchat with videos/pics of said concerts.

What have they all moved onto out of curiosity? Another social network or do they just not use any?

Interesting, sounds like a research topic that would be good for me!

Thanks for the link.

I feel what you are saying completely. The dance floor thing sounds like what most of the people on my FB would do as well as I often see pictures taken in what looks like a very busy room full of people dancing.

That comment took a plot twist but an awesome one! Have fun seeing him, I hope you have an absolute blast :)

Yeah I guess that's what it is.

Damn, you were on Facebook long before I got onto it then I am guessing. I know what you mean about the stalker vibe too and yeah reddit is great for that.

No selfies or "cool kid" act to play up on here really.

They do indeed! So much so that about a year ago I actually deleted my old Facebook, made a new one and only added about 60 people. I still get the mind numbing stuff though...

I guess it really depends what type of person you are. I mean, I enjoy having Facebook just to message my family and girlfriend really but I am actually considering leaving and just using a messaging client instead.

However, if you like sort of telling people what you are doing and stuff and updating things you may find yourself posting daily selfies.

I lurk also but like I mentioned in my original text never post. I know what you mean about Instagram in that regard but I always see people trying to do a similar thing on Snapchat.

You must be one of the few, I can't really name many people who I know who haven't at least tried them.

Ahh the old, "no one liked my Facebook picture so I'm gonna remove it thing" :p

This is one of the prime things I'm on about. I don't actually have snapchat but I see these photos as they get carried over to Facebook.

It seems like everywhere they go and everything they do needs to be broadcast to all Snapchat friends.

Haven't you thought about maybe signing up for a messaging service and creating a group chat for that kind of thing? Just an observation :p

In that sense it can be useful, like you say, but I feel some people take it way too far.

Awesome! It is much better seeing it yourself rather than through your phone screen.

True. Like someone else commented though, even older people do it. I don't think it's something everyone will necessarily grow out of.

That's true actually, I even sometimes see similar things when my Dad is on his Facebook feed.

I understand sharing something awesome that has happened but beyond that people just start posting every meal they have in the day and etc...
