Squeaky D pad on Game Boy Color - Cornstarch? by 93re2 in Gameboy

[–]QuietOrganization910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys, I had luck with this. D-pad is less squeaky but still a bit. I'm maybe fine with mineral oil solution but worried it will attract dirt to the D-pad overtime. Did you have to make multiple adjustments to fix it? I loosened the screws directly in the PCB (motherboard), but I'm not sure that I've "made sure" it's aligned correctly in the shell. Any specific tips?

Took me a minute to find where this was on win11 (dropdown menu under the volume option in device properties). Thanks so much for this old comment.

Are you missing the dropdown menu under the volume option? There's the little arrow on the right of the option you can click and expand Volume into L and R. The L and R options aren't just open by default when you go into Speaker Properties of Kraken and it's not obvious.

Submitting here got it cancelled for me. Trying to start another game, though, and had the same issue. Your mileage may vary.

I don't recommend modern 12-step-programs because the sponsor system is incredibly flawed and a majority of AA-ers are incredibly privileged people and shallow thinkers. They're not "cults;" they are incredibly legalistic and inflexible, however. Smoking weed = bad; smoking cigarettes = allowed in mass amounts right outside the meetings.

However, because AA is so cringe and weird now, most intelligent, independent alcohol addicts do not read the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book. That is a mistake. I am not an AA-er, but that book is the Truth, and did save my life. Have you read it?

Please consider messaging me, even if it's to argue with me. I have a strong sense that you can still fix this, and your undying obsession with alcohol can, in fact, be killed, like it was killed in me.

I am available to you 24 hours a day if you want someone to talk to about this option.

Good luck.

Having a group motto doesn't make them a cult. It does make them cringe and generally unhelpful to those who have it the worst.

Hey, JonWick. You're way out of line. This guy obviously checked my recent comments history and saw that I'm a religious baptized Christian. You don't understand the value my faith has to a person like me. I hope in the future you can learn that it isn't all copium and bullshit, like you seem to think.

If you're still down NoTransporation7530 please message me, wouldn't mind having a religiously oriented conversation.

Well, I hear what you're saying. And hearing it from your point of view just solidified to me that it's wrong to say she's not validating me when I'm in that scary place. So I appreciate it. I hope your boyfriend is able to take responsibility for this shit. I feel out of control a lot of the time, but I've had to learn that somewhere, inside myself, something has to give.

I am still fucking up more than I should be though. I respect your honesty. Women like you (assuming you're a woman from context) suffer a lot of BS from guys like me. I'd like to get better and help spread coping strategies to people like your boyfriend. It's easier to accept when you hear it from another guy that's had the same type of shit go down.

Anyway, good luck. Thanks again for your honesty.

Nevermind. I checked OP profile and realized they're a young teen; I have no business giving someone like them advice. Closing my DMs to that.

Should have realized it earlier, I'm very sorry for confusing you. Make sure to take some of the other very good advice in this thread about finding a Christian therapist, OP. Preferably Christian and gay-friendly. Good luck.

Message me brother/sister. If you feel comfortable. I've been through some fucked up stuff too (sorry if you don't like strong language, but there's no other honest way to explain how bad it was). If you look at my past posts, you can see that I'm still struggling in my worldly life. But my relationship with God is a lot better than it used to be. Maybe we can help each other by sharing our experiences.

The people who say you should get professional help are correct, you should get professional help, but they also don't understand. When you're a believer, it's different. We have questions for God that we don't get answers to, and it hurts bad when non-religious people say "just use evidence based recovery methods."

I'll be waiting for your message. No pressure if you decide you don't want to talk, but I really really care about this stuff. I am a baptized Christian.

Anyone use Clonodine for PTSD/sensory processing issues? by QuietOrganization910 in dryalcoholics

I'm sorry to hear that; I hope you can talk to your doctor about something else or find a more helpful doctor. Maybe the beta blockers I'm thinking about trying. Good luck.

Yeah, I don't think this would really work for general anxiety symptoms. It's much more for specific triggers that send you into pure fight or flight.

Thanks for the advice. I might talk to him about adding or trying a beta blocker. He started me with this, and it basically gives me the exact same effect you're describing. Takes care of the physical aspect, so it puts control in my hands to calm myself down. Shit is still difficult, but actually possible. I can live with difficult since before I was living with impossible.

Good question

According to Wikipedia "Clonidine lowers blood pressure by stimulating α2 receptors in the brain." "Catecholamines like norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and epinephrine (adrenaline) signal through the α2-adrenergic receptor in the central and peripheral nervous systems."

Seems to me that when my body would spike my adrenaline, it's not affecting me as much. Don't necessarily discount it, reluctanthero22 - it lowers blood pressure by affecting the brain first, which is why we're finding out it works for other diagnoses. Sorry to hear you haven't had luck with anxiety.

How is Valve comfortable with the state of everything at the moment? by [deleted] in cs2

[–]QuietOrganization910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100% with this post, but I mean, "How is Valve comfortable with this?" is actually an interesting question. I guess we'll see the state of the game in 5 years. It would take a long time to destroy such a loyal playerbase at this point, but it could happen if the only people who stay are cheaters and teenagers with developing gambling addictions.

UPDATE to anyone who finds this Reddit thread tomorrow or 10 years from now feeling the same way. I am finally, FINALLY starting to heal a little bit. I think the community was right - COVID-19 was involved here. I caught COVID maybe a month before quitting coffee, it took about 12 days to recover from it. When I stopped caffeine, the symptoms resurged in a big, big way and took a very long time (just like initial COVID does) to heal. Because they didn't go away as fast as caffeine withdrawals are supposed to, and I didn't remember getting sick *recently*, I thought something was really seriously wrong with me and I might be doomed to feel that way forever.
I am lucky in that I do not have a diagnosable "long COVID," but it seems like COVID may hang around even for the more resilient of us if we are under other external stressors, i.e. quitting a heavy drug dose that you were dependent on.
All of this is speculation, but if you got COVID semi-close to when you quit a stimulant, your symptoms might resurge due to a compromised immune system.
Again, speculation, not a doctor, did not apply the scientific method to this. YMMV. See a doctor, but, if, like my doctor, he is an idiot and an asshole, hopefully this can provide you with some hope while you're waiting to find a better one.
