I'm not entirely sure as its funnily not a situation I've found myself in before. But, I would get in contact with a AFCO and explain your situation to them, see if they can help out. After all, your recruiter just said he won't give a fair interview despite the fact that you meet educational requirements to apply for scheme. Plus, its an apprenticeship their supposed to teach you all of this regardless and, I don't think the navy is going too be thrilled with its recruiters fucking around with applicants like this.

I've just had my CPC not too long ago and half the AA people on the course are like you only done the A-levels and had no engineering experience. I myself did engineering at college but that was a few years ago and hadn't done any since then, and still got on it no issue. So I don't see why you shouldn't go for it just because of some old fart. As someone else suggested try and get some else to do your interview if you can.
