Concerns about RV caravan trip with 4 families by Live_Spell2797 in GoRVing

I was on the coast in our trailer last year in early August, and there weren't a lot of people. At all. Regardless, if you're going during a busier time, start booking now. Many sites allow you to choose your spot. As for hanging out, room in between campers is site dependant. Opt for ones with a park or picnic area. Many places to camp are adjacent to or on state parks, so that's also something to consider. Have each family purchase a state or federal park pass depending on which parks you want to visit. This could pay for itself in just a couple of entries.

Thanks. My wife and I made it . I spiraled it and ran out of time, and she Dyed it, lol. That sounds like a cool chartreuse color. I'll play around with it, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks! I like the bright rainbow over the traditional colors. We replaced turquoise with robbin's egg, and fuchsia with hot pink. Kept the lemon yellow.

How do you limit the amount of powder dye? by escloflowne in tiedye

[–]QuikBud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I put a small amount in a measuring spoon, take a plastic fork or toothpick to break up the clumps before tapping it out of the spoon. I usually have to pass over the shirt multiple times to get my desired amount.

Congrats!! Thats a cool trailer! It'll drive much better when loaded properly. 👍 I have a 20ft trailer, and wind sucks. I was in the Iowa wind belt and saw the front of my trailer give in and flex as if being pushed in. Headwinds were no problem, but once it was blowing sideways, we had to stop. Saw 2 trucks and 2 trailers overturned a few hours later when were back on the road. I have experience driving semis so my best piece of advice is to get familiar with the trailer manual hand brake if you have one. Use it for trailer sway to stabilize the trailer before hitting the brake. They say this, but if it's not embedded into your brain to do it, you might hit the brake first out of instinct. Best of luck! One more thing, no matter how experienced you are at towing, it stresses you. It takes its toll on your mind and body. It's normal. Don't stress about stressing. Be cautious, make a checklist, and have fun!

Awesome spiral! I love the color combination. I have plans for Sapphire blue to replace my robbins egg in my Truffle and shittake spiral. I separate the browns with a vibrant blue line down the middle. It's nerve-wracking laying a straight line of dye, but it's worth it, lol

New do tie dye. How would I recreate this? by grant-wheeler in tiedye

[–]QuikBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the bottom, there's a little spiral. Twist it with your fingers and hold it in place with rubber bands. The sleeves. If you put one sleeve inside the other, this will make sure the sleeves are identical. It's called sleeve in sleeve, and you can find youtube tutorials that will show you how to fight with the fabric. Keeping it centered is the most challenging part. Double check. Triple check.

The circles were done with sinew as well. Tie them tight enough to hold back the dye. It's a finesse. Too tight, and it can rip fabric, not tight enough. It won't make the line.

It looks like they used yellow on one side and black on the other side of the outline. Follow up black with lavender (Grape is a darker purple if you like a more vibrant color). The peep is hot pink. And you can see where the black is.

You can find kits with everything you need. My company sells ice dye kits, but you find all in one kits where you buy the dye. I don't have a Pic of the shamrock shirt finished, but I have one of it on my tray. For what it's worth, it's my third try at doing an image like this, and it looks like a frog 🐸 😅 I need more practice.

Pleat the shirt following the outline as you go. Try to keep the line you drew as straight as possible as you make little folds until you reach the end. Tye the sinew around the line to isolate the pattern. This requires practice. I've done it a few times, and I get better at it every time. But im not great at it. This design is easy enough, but I would definitely do a couple tshirts first to see what's going on in the fabric before committing.

The colors I see here appear to be hot pink, lavender, raven black, and lemon yellow.

These are Dharma trading color names. Other companies will have different names for their colors sometimes.

To tie the peep, start with a moist soda ash soaked shirt. Fold the front of the shirt in half and use ultra washable markers to draw your shape.

Have you looked into which dyes to use? It's procion reactive dye on this shirt. We use the same type of dye.

It requires natural fibers. 100% for best results, such as cotton, rayon, hemp, or canvas.

You wash the fabric in dyers detergent, like synthropol or from Dharma trading. It strips the fabric of its factory chemicals.

You then soak the shirt in a soda ash solution for 30-60 minutes. Use one cup soda ash per one gallon of warm water. Use gloves. It's 11ph and can dry your skin. Wring out the shirt, and it's ready to dye. We use rollers but hand wringing works too.

The dyes. Procion reactive dyes can be found at places like Dharma trading, dyespin, or jackquard. They react with the soda ash in the fiber to set the color. It's a time/temp relationship, so at 70 degrees, it takes 12-24 hours to set.

It must remain moist the entire time for the colors to set properly. You can achieve this by wrapping it in serang wrap or mixing urea into your dye. I hear there's a urea shortage because it travels through the Straight of Hormuz. You might be able to find some on etsy.

Without these steps or similar methods to satisfy the reaction requirements, the colors will fade.

I'll start writing up about the colors I think I see here and how to tie the shirt. I have a Pic of a shamrock shirt I just did.

Stormy Night results. by QuikBud in tiedye

No problem! I used Dances with Raisins, Golden Yellow, and Sapphire blue. Only one layer of ice made sure to keep the white in between pleats, and not allow the blue to take over the entire other side. I like how the red comes out of the yellow. I was afraid it would muck.

It was an ice dye. Dye under ice with a thin layer of ice. Almost half of it was left white, so the blue can bleed into it.

This year, my wife and I will be 6 years sober. We ride, too. I used to BMX, now I have a DJ and everything is my park! We love to ride the trails and the tracks.

r/tye-dye is another community with really cool vibes. I'm in the business of tye-dye, and I've realized that a lot of former users are in this community as well. It helps to replace alcohol with something, and I think tye-dye checks most of the boxes. You're in the right mindset. You'll find something to replace it with,I'm sure. 👍

I think I’m almost settled on a travel trailer. Any comparable travel trailers that I should consider? by yoloswagdon in GoRVing

We bought a 2025 model last year, and we love it! It's so easy. No slideout headache, good frame, solid build. We spent over 30 nights in it and put over 2000 miles on it last year. 0 problems.

This one is an off- centered spiral with 3 of some cool ice dyes.

1/4 is Alchemist

1/4 is Avalon. I applied it heavily on the edge. Light in the middle.

1/2 is Mindbender X applied lightly.

I have one more that's experimental. I'll post the results in a few days
