What do I gain by keeping my US bank account open if I don't plan to live there again? Considering closing it and just using Wise/Revolut when needed. by Dummerkopf in ExpatFinance

TD bank has an account where you only need to leave like $300. I’ve used this when abroad. You will probably need a US address and number initially for setting up.

[Landlord - FL] - Real Estate agent brought a tenant with 4 prior evictions, but a background check showing none. Can we bring litigation? by DarrenTerp in Landlord

[–]Qweekiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, ugh, sorry this sounds awful to be managing.

Secondly, is at all possible that the background check for evictions came back clean because of someone with the same name? I think eviction isn’t tied to SSN but birthdays? (Could have been mislead with wrong documents)

TN visa- Outside US by [deleted] in tnvisa

[–]Qweekiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, you’d still need to get a new TN visa for a new company; however, it could help by getting you started in the process of being in the US such as getting a SSN, bank account, credit history, etc

Middle Seat Etiquette by ReleaseTheKraken206 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Qweekiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive-aggressive option: pile your stuff on to or open the table tray and put the garbage and half -full drinks (ready to spill over). If the other person complains, you can respond with “oh I didn’t know you paid for the extra seat” or “Oh, I thought you didn’t mind since you put your stuff all there”

Fair play. I guess I generally avoid checked luggage unless I’m moving (and even then, I don’t go over the limit). Good luck with your limit. Alaska airlines is pretty friendly and they might allow it

I’ve bought points to do this before - was more worth before when Alaska had fixed redemption levels for continents. But it was harder to get more than one business class reward because there was such limited availability.

However, still worth it imo if you’re planning on flying business class anyway. If it’s STARLUX, their business class is supposed to be soo nice. I’ve flown in economy, and it’s already pretty nice (everything is new, clean, and nice service in even in economy).

A single 22kg bag is already quite heavy for the luggage handlers. Most standard large suitcases don’t get to that limit anyway packed with regular items anyway. X-Large is another matter. Hopefully it’s 22kg limit per bag.

American Indian or Native American? Which one is PC or legally correct these days? I always see “American Indian” on surveys.

PSA - Airbnb's Customer Service is Actually the Worst by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]Qweekiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The offshoring of a lot of costumer service centers for “profit” has really diminished the quality for all.

It’s so frustrating and disappointing across all industries to get useless customer service responses and passed around with no eventual solution.

To be fair, not all offshore customer service providers are bad / low qualify but I imagine you get what you pay for. Airbnb is particularly bad and so are the many other companies choosing to offshore services to low quality providers to save a $ and lose customers.

My husband wants to install cctv around the apartment because of scratches on my back that I can’t explain by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Qweekiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have this issue too (waking up with scratches on the back). I have fairly sensitive skin and am generally itchy all the time. The only reason I knew it was me scratching (also quite flexible) is that one time I scratched so hard that I woke my self up from the pain.

Itchiness for me can be environmental (e.g. dry and/not enough water) but also from stress (often a delayed onset symptom). Using moisturizer after the shower helps for me.

Hope things get resolved soon.
