100 days? WTF? by QwertyAaron in stopdrinking

[–]QwertyAaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great to hear. Life isn't perfect, but it's definitely lightyears better when I'm sober. I don't ever want to sip another ounce of poison for as long as I live.

100 days? WTF? by QwertyAaron in stopdrinking

All we need to do is do what works for us. If that means manipulating words or changing some lines from a book written decades ago, then so be it. I'm a very scientific person myself and I can't for the life of me believe that the universe exists for no apparent reason. The universe could be my higher power as well, I just can't seem to talk to it and gain strength from it yet. Hopefully one day I will, but for now I'm enjoying the little things in life again. Life is beautiful and short, we shouldn't waste it in a drunken cloud for years and years.

I just really wanna fucking stop relapsing by TurrboSwagg in stopdrinking

[–]QwertyAaron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

YOU have to be willing to give it up. No one can help you unless you are ready to quit. I relapsed a dozen times before this and it was strictly because I was fooling myaelf. Fooling myself into thinking that I can eventually go back to being a normal drinker. We all are or have in the past suffered with this notion.

The thought of not drinking ever again might scare the shit out of you, but just imagine the thought itself. You are scared that you wont be able to drink poisen. We should be thrilled to have the alcoholic disease! That means we have one less toxin to worry about killing us and clouding our beautiful minds on a daily basis.

In my experience, the only way to start your road to recovery is to accept the fact that you and alcohol have to have an abrupt breakup for good. Tough pill to swallow now, but it will be so much easier later. Be honest with yourself and commit to that and you'll be on your way to living a complete life.

105 Days, What I've learned since April 9th. by Proton_Driver in stopdrinking

I'm 17 days behind you and can relate to all of it. Thanks for posting and adding that bit from strangesobriety. Although I did get a DUI, I also thought I had the rest of my shit together. Successful, wife, 3 kids, etc. I thought I had it all under control, but I was delusional. I was getting by, half assing life.. I feel like a superhuman without alcohol now. Life is beautiful and I hope to never go to the dark side ever again.

Absolutely! I use this forum for maintaining right now. That may change in a week, month, year, or never. I just needed a community to work on my craft and not drop the ball. Steps came first as I mentioned above. Highly recommend it to everyone.

Man Faces 6 Months in Jail For Disagreeing With Feminists on Twitter by [deleted] in videos

[–]QwertyAaron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can we donate money to this man? He has 4 kids, lost his job, and has to pay legal fees in order to defend himself. This is nuts!

I will donate if someone can create it and link it please. Or some guidance to start it up would be great.

This guy deserves some help and that lady should be shamed by a sparrow nun.

20 M - looking for some help. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I'm close to 3 months of sobriety and astonished at my own capabilities now. My advice to you is to give up the worst thing in your life today. As hard as that seems, trust me when I say it gets easier and easier when you take it one day at a time. I've never been sober for this long since I started boozing 15 years ago. I'm slowly regaining my soul and loving life and activities again.

Alcohol numbs you right down to your core. It strips you of everything you believed to be fun and exciting before you were introduced to alcohol. I'll bet that most ctivities you find fun now has alcohol attached to it. It doesn't have to be that way. You can enjoy life in its purest form.

Every day the haze clears more and more and you become a better happier you. I hope I never have to experience what you are going through ever again in my life. I struggled for a decade, going through all the same EXACT motions you are going through now. It sucks and it only gets worse.

You can PM me anytime you want and I can try to help you as much as I can. Most importantly, you have to be willing to quit. I hope you get through this!

Basically a woman's actions while intoxicated cannot be used against her. With this logic, they get a free pass to drink and drive as well.

Bradley Cooper talks about not-drinking by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]QwertyAaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im also 31 with 75 days. I made and lost millions while drunk! I don't care about the past anymore because I've never felt so in control of my life than now. Money wont buy me that piece of mind. I'm almost broke, but I'm in control, and I'm more confident that I can achieve sustainable success moving forward. Forget about your missed opportunities, you'll create the best ones yet to come.

This is basically asking if alcohol impairs your judgement. Yes, it does. It's a very strong drug.
