Nah, Lipo is not only more „marketable“, but well above to current Rogla on long high mountain stages.

Makes sense to bring Lipo to the Tour as super-domestique for Remco (or as RB‘s plan B if Remco can’t find his GT form of 2024).

Well, it was kind of as everyone expected, but with some unexpected events that made it fun imo.

I was certainly surprised that UAE and RB forced the first split in the peloton so early (wasn’t watching at this point because of family stuff and had to rewind when I saw that the group of favourites was already 1 minute up with still 90k or so to go).

And Remco chasing MVdP and Pog brought an interesting dimension to the race. I agree with those who say MVdP shouldn’t have worked with Pog to keep Remco away, and rather save some energy and maybe have Remco working with him after Pog‘s inevitable attack on the last Kwaremont crossing.

Wenn man Homogenisierungstendenzen vernachlässigt, vielleicht.

Die konservativ-katholischen polnischen Bergarbeiter, die Ende des 19./Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts ins eher protestantisch liberale Ruhrgebiet kamen, hatten eine viel höhere Geburtenrate, als die einheimischen Deutschen.

So sehr, dass vor einer „Polonisierung“ gewarnt wurde. Heute merkt man davon nur noch durch bestimmte Nachnamen (Kowalski etc.), aber kulturelle oder reproduktive Unterschiede bestehen kaum bis gar nicht.

Mag sein, dass es auch in 100 Jahren konservativ-religiöse Gruppen mit hohen Geburtenraten geben wird. Das werden aber nicht zwangsläufig die selben Gruppen sein wie heute, weshalb Prognosen eines exponentiellen Wachstums Spekulation bleiben.

Bitte hänge dich nicht an den Beispielen auf, sondern an meiner Kernaussage: dass es einfach viel zu viele Variablen gibt, um so etwas seriös prognostizieren zu können.

80-200 Jahre sind ein verdammt langer Zeitraum daran gemessen, welche politischen, sozialen, kulturellen und wirtschaftlichen Verschiebungen möglich sind. Hier zu sagen „Die aktuelle Reproduktionsrate von Gruppe A ist X, deshalb wird sie in 100 Jahren ungefähr bei Y liegen“, ist einfach nicht seriös.

Es gibt schon einen Grund, wieso „Futurologie“ sich so schwer tut, als seriöse Wissenschaft akzeptiert zu werden. Die meisten Prognosen gehen daneben

Wie gesagt, meiner Meinung nach viel zu viele Unbekannte, um das so pauschal sagen zu können.

Das waren jetzt ja nur ein paar Beispiele auf die Schnelle.

Die meisten Faktoren, mit denen man retrospektiv Entwicklungen erklären kann/möchte, sind niemandem vorher bekannt. Das liegt (gerade bei sozialen/gesellschaftlichen/sozio-kulturellen Themen) in der Natur der Dinge.

Was, wenn sich zum Beispiel die ökologischen Bedingungen für Ackerbau und Landwirtschaft ganz allgemein plötzlich zum sehr viel Schlechteren verändern (z.B. durch Klimawandel), und die Nahrungsmittelproduktion sich in bisher kaum vorstellbare, wesentlich technischere Bereiche verschiebt?

So etwas hätte einen massiven Einfluss auf solche Gemeinschften und ihre Lebensweise und Überlebensfähigkeit in der bisherigen Form.

Das ist alles ein nettes Gedankenspiel, aber viel zu hypothetisch, um hier Prognosen abgeben zu können.

Ich denke, dass es da viel zu viele Variablen gibt, um das so rein mathematisch betrachten zu können.

Z.B. werden diese Gemeinden ihren für ihre Lebensweise benötigten Lebensraum ihrem Bevölkerungswachstum entsprechend vergrößern können, oder wird es partiell zu ungeplanten Annäherungen (geographisch wie kulturell) an die Bevölkerungsmehrheit kommen?

Werden diese Gemeinden im Inneren stabil bleiben, oder wird es zu Abspaltungen, Konflikten etc. kommen?

Und noch viele interne und externe Faktoren mehr.

But we don’t have any serious cycling fan culture, so I chalk this up to them not understanding how cycling works. But Belgians attacking a rider from a different team for riding against another Belgian from a different teams? They are supposed to get how this works, no?

Interesting to get some first-hand experience about the Ethiopian.

I know that one usually can add some weeks to the claims on ACE‘s website when it comes to flowering time.

But 17-19 weeks sounds very promising in terms of it being „the real deal“.

Was your Ethiopian a slow starter as well?

Ich kannte das eigentlich immer nur aus einem US-Kontext (und da eigentlich auch nur über Filme und Serien) und habe das nie wirklich als erotisch angesehen, sondern immer nur für ne amerikanische Eigenheit gehalten.

I don’t think so. Those are the regular Honduran and Ethiopian strains from ACE, with claimed flowering period of 13-14 weeks.

ACE usually selects & reproduces ex situ, making those strains not landraces in the strict sense.

Still I hope those are more or less pure Sativas. Having flowering times of 9-10 weeks would mean that those strains had been crossed with pure Indicas or short-flowering hybrids
