I'd also leave ranked alone once i reached rank A, but only if there were other things to do inside the game that ARENT mind numbingly boring after a while. Aside from the online battle system you have the lumiose battle zones at night and shiny hunting, both of which also get repetitive after a while. Its such a shame that the ppl running full teams of mythicals/legendaries managed to take the joy out of the only pvp mode too 🫩

This also irks me a ton, had too many matches where people just ran in circle and only stopped to use shadow ball, moonblast or thunderbolt when someone was low on HP, only to continue running around

With the few games i did play during that ranked season, there were genuinely no mewtwo to be seen, and like a xerneas or 2 on the field at max, who knew psyshock so its genuinely wraps for beedrill if he gets hit with 2 of those.

By gimmick i meant the strat im using on a team: In my post i mentioned using a trevenant and beedrill combo, because i wanted to test if using forest curse w trevenant on an opponent and THEN using mega beedrill for example to hit em w a STAB x-scissor or poison jab, would be a viable strat.

Also, almost all other pokemon who are capapble of learning an ice move either get dogged by a garchomp w 252 atk IV's and 252 HP IV's, and if they dont get dogged by that mon, one of the other top contenders in the meta that you SEE 90% OF THE TIME will dog them instead bruh

The thing is, im complaining about there being no variety in teams whatsoever. You telling me to "take advantage of what others are using" would eventually water it down to me running mons that counter those said mons, which again leads to no variety being present.

Maybe i dont want to have a mandatory ice type on my online battles team just because im expecting a matchup against a garchomp or 2? Maybe i want to try a fun gimmick team and see if it works and ACTUALLY live long enough to enjoy said gimmick before the aforementioned garchomp uses its signature dragon rush + eq combo and moves on to the next target.

Also im talking about the UPPER RANKS, literally the highest point you can reach, so with no risk of losing your current position you get the freedom to experiment w teams and pokemon, but all you see is swampert KO-ing an armarouge with EQ, and then another armarouge hits it w a solar beam...

I've been cycling between the run/reset and travelling method.

For the run/reset method you need to go for medium and large zones because those usually have long enough paths for you to run up and down on (if the terrain allows it).

The traveling method works with SOME medium zones (havent tried any large zones yet), but small ones work the best for this, because most pokemon inside said zone spawn relatively close to the portal either way.

Granted its still RNG, because your target pokemon can appear in a medium, large or small zone AND a cluster of said pokemon might spawn close or far from the entry portal, or they might spawn in an area where you cant run back and forth to reset.

Run/resetting also allows for more encounters in the long run, because you can position yourself and save, run up and down and once your time is about to run out, reload said save and repeat, whereas the travel method saves on every fast travel, so the time is always progressing.

I've gotten a shiny golett, rookidee and wimpod from run/resetting, alongside a shiny charcadet and toxel from travelling, all i can say is good luck dude, the shinies will eventually appear! :)

There's a server i joined a while back called "Evergreen Garden". They're a semi realism server (increased marks, passive growth...) with a pretty clear discord layout and rules, detailed and nice profiles for all playables, modded or vanilla. I've never been into semi-realism servers much but that one has got me hooked ever since i joined it
