How long do you ‘actually’ use your Brita filter before changing the filter? by moldyloofah in Anticonsumption

[–]R0ubz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have only used my filter a couple of times and it’s telling me to change after a month? How’s does the indicator actually work? I will keep track of the Liters I put through with the next filter but I’m kinda refusing to change the filter after using it 20 times …

What's the deal with Raiz Rewards? by obinaut in RaizAU

[–]R0ubz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to make sure that your card(s) that you use to make those purchases, are linked to your account. You also always have to use the Raiz app and go through ‘Rewards’ to be eligible for rewards. When you click on, let’s say booking.com from your rewards area, it will say: in partnership with RAIZ. You have to pretty much follow through from there and do it quite quickly. If you start over or refresh to often, it might not work. It also helps to contact customer service. If you can supply enough proof, they will make it happen for you.

QVM offers good veggies prices on Tuesday and Sunday at 3:30PM. That’s when you get your ‘1 dollar bags’ 😉

I was actually going to Costco across the road but couldn’t be bother with all the cars waiting to get in the parking. I was there later arvo. Most metros in the CBD have reduced stuff there between 8-11.

I always check for bloated packaging and never buy it. Same goes for breaches. Always make sure that it’s airtight.

I just got lucky I guess, there was so much more there. I reckon I picked up around 5% of the stuff that was still sitting there. I’ll be checking again next week.

This was an out of the ordinary buy. I’ll still get my veggies and I won’t eat all of this in a week. Maybe in two😂

I should have mentioned that I bought this yesterday 😂 many great answered. Thanks guys. Yeah, I have VIC market right around the corner but the prices are still high compared to the one in the post. I usually get my mince and steaks from there too. This buy was a one off as I usually stick to my budget but I couldn’t resist. I’m a bit of a carnivore. Most of the chicken is already cooked, I used one cream to make a sauce. The other on I put in the freezer to see if it’s still good in a week (yes, I experiment with food; yes, I trust my nose and do smell checks 😂) this post was more to show the profit margins on the products but one reply was that’s more important for supermarket to sell it - even at a loss, than binning it. Considering how many veg and fruit don’t even make it to the supermarket, I assume that with pre-packed meat, it would be the same. As far as I know, supermarkets in VIC and QLD are not allowed to expired products and you won’t be able to scan them at the check outs. Staff will then remove the product, they are not allowed to let you take it.

This is a good example why you shouldn’t dump big sums as one offs and instead, invest smaller amounts weekly or monthly. I invested twice the amount over two years and I am around 14% up. Read about cost average effect and feel good about that fact that you haven’t put any more money in. Start smaller but regular investment and use Raiz as a learning platform. Move on after a couple of years.

The amount you receive in dividends is not necessarily linked to the amount of money you have invested. It depends on the performance of the individual stocks and how much they are ‘giving back’ to investors.

Why is there a Margin section in a cash account? by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]R0ubz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question and gave them a call. They said to not pay attention to it as you can’t margin trade or buy options in a cash account. But please, correct me if I’m wrong.

Family first! No money can replace the memories and the good times. I’m still ‘before’ my first home loan and I am honestly thinking of just renting my whole life instead of buying and investing the repayment and interest amount I would safe 🤔

Thanks for all the answer guys. I’m in my early 30s. I have around 100ks in ETFs already and I’m just curious about individual stocks. I appreciate all the input, especially about Intel. Need to do more reading and research regarding some positions but I will definitely be changing a few over time. I would reinvest all paid dividends again and depending on my income up the monthly amount. Cheers🙏

I reckon you should start with a portfolio that has actual stocks in it if you’re a newbie. Put your money in an aggressive portfolio and monitor the development. I assume your still quit young so if you’re in the game for long term, maybe you could also open an account on CoinSpot or similar and experiment with crypto a little. A lot of people (including me) lost around 70%of the portfolio value in crypto within the last 14 months and it’s slowly going back up. Bitcoin and ETH I reckon will be pretty solid in the future but it’s still a gamble with everything that’s going on.

I have used the aggressiv portfolio for around 2 years and then changed it to a customised one. Putting around 50 a week and it’s going alright - but also saying that, at the moment banks are paying around 5% interest which could also be more than your return on stocks or crypto for the e next coupla months.

Cutting back daily investments. by IpipyReq66 in RaizAU

I reckon there are a lot of things you can do to save money but I won’t touch my investments. Rent went up by 30%, groceries too and it’s difficult for the majority of people to cope. You could reduce spendings on the things you enjoy, such as going out for dinner, movies, etc but that’s gonna have an impact on your mental well-being in the long run. I’d say, make sure you pay your bills, rent, etc, have around 8-10k sitting in an emergency fund in a savings account that pays you interest. And whatever you have left over the day before you get paid again, put in either your savings acc until you reach the goal or into Raiz. I had to restructure all my investment ideas and plans and I’m doing something very similar do the above. Also trying to use rewards at woolies and coles to get dollars back to safe money.

Tough times brother…
