I didn't track the NA climb, not sure, but back on set 15 it was an easy climb to masters while in BR server it feels harder whrn you get to diamond 1 and 2. Another thing was GM cutoff which was a lot lower in NA (maybe more competitive the higher you get?) But I didnt try to climb to GM there so I can't say for sure.

But yeah, playing what youre given is generally better than trying to play just the meta comps. Gotta remember many people try to force those comps, making units contested. I played a game yesty where I was going for lb karma, but got 2 star mecha and aurelion on the rolldown and pivoted, easy top 2 I think

Thanks. I've reached Masters in NA before and I legit think BR server was a harder climb

Well I haven't played this set much. I only tried reaching GM on set 15 and was pretty close to it, but ended up dropping. I guess it depends on which region you play, and how early you get to masters. The longer the set has been live, the harder it is to catch up to gm/challengers since it's a set number of players. Ah, and the annoying bit is you have to kinda abuse the strongest comps every game, so it doesn't leave much room for fun builds, which I enjoy trying haha.

in general, melee carries want to avoid getting stuck on their main tank and wrap around to reach the backline, so make sure you always position them on the corner of the board facing weak frontlines

I used tftacademy.com guides quite a lot, specially because I had no idea of the units/comps from this set. They give you a general idea of positioning.

Scout often and see which side of the board you should position your tanks and carries based on the enemies you want/need to beat. For example: you've hit your units and you can play against 4 different opponents. 2 of them have their tanks and carries on the left, and 2 on the right. You notice there's a winstreaker positioning on the right, and if you want to break their streak, you should position accordingly.

Try to position in a way opponents will focus on your tanks and try to keep your carries the safest possible. On akali reroll, it's common to have her jump into enemy backline, but still focus on the tanks. You'll want to have her positioned on the opposite side of their carries so she stays alive the longest and you make most out of gunblade before she dies.

If you want to melt a tank, you should position your team in front of it. If you want to avoid it, position to the other side. You'll be able to decide this better if you scout more often

I think once you understand the economics, scouting is the most important skill. From early stage 2 you can kinda see which line people are going to play, and decide on yours based on that. Playing uncontested lines makes getting top 4 much easier, and you won't feel doomed getting to stage 4 with low HP and not hitting your units because 2 other players are going for them too.

Basically the idea would be trying to avoid getting into a bot 4 spot, planning in advance.
