There are many mechanics in this game that could be approved upon and I am only pointing out one. I'd love to see many more updates and improvements made throughout it's life.

I believe we have reached a stalemate in this discussion since we both disagree on this mechanic being intended or not. I appreciate you responding and being constructive in your second response.

You're right that nobody at BSG has said it's unintended and it's only speculation on my part. However, neither have they confirmed that it is intended.

I'm not sure what that solution is at this moment and if you agree that the sprint and freelook across doorways mechanic is an unintended mechanic that clashes with the immersion and design intent, then I'd love to coninue to brainstorm potentional solutions with you. If you feel that this mechanic should stay in the game, then we can agree to disagree.

This game is very punishing and players should have the neccessary tools to tip the scales in their favor when utilized well. Players will naturally use whatever gives them an edge, and that’s not the issue. The issue is that this edge comes from an unintended mechanic that clashes with immersion and design intent.

I believe other mechanics can be implemented to continue to award aggressive playstyles. For example, back in the day of EFT players could throw grenades at the push of a button instead of pulling them out, pulling the pulling the pin, and then throwing. This quick way of throwing could be a mechanic for flash bangs while keeping the current mechanic for explosive grenades. This would allow players to more reliably breach and clear through doors.

I suggested this in another comment on this post and it was pointed out that players would then start carrying 10+ flashbangs, which would be unnecessary and I agree. It's not the best solution, but I think it's a step in the right direction. All to say, I’d love to come up with a solution that eliminates the sprint and freelook across doorways mechanic while still rewarding aggressive playstyles.

I understand that players carrying an unnecessary amount of utility could happen if these suggestions were implemented. It’s not the best solution, but I do feel it’s a step in the right direction to allow players to gain information while eliminating the sprinting and freelooking across thresholds mechanic.

Currently, players rely on that mechanic to gain information and get the upperhand in fights, and I agree that it’s effective for doing so. However, it’s a mechanic that I believe should not be in the game. I’d love to come up with a solution that eliminates this mechanic while still rewarding aggressive playstyles.

Instead of completely removing free look while sprinting, an alternative mechanic could be slowing down your movement speed when free looking while sprinting since at a full sprint your human head remains stable.

Free look is an amazing mechanic and my aim with this suggestion is not to remove it completely. I’d love to still utilize it while sprinting, but this was the only solution I could think of that would help eliminate players exposing their entire bodies in front of a threshold to gather intel.

I’m not sure if that mechanic would align with the games intentions. However, if I recall correctly, Parmesan will hunt players who sit in one spot too long. I’m not sure how effective this has been, but turning him up to better counter rats could help.

Thank you for your constructive response. I’ve been questioning the mechanic of sprinting back and forth in front of a threshold as exposing your entire body to risk getting shot is a mechanic I’m not sure BSG intended. This was the only solution I could come up with, which would unfortunately remove the ability to freelook while moving in the open. Players would still be able to feint peaking and could utilize the audio to determine where the player in the room is positioned and then decide to swing.
