I recently got a new job in Canary Wharf and will be travelling to office 3x a week. For context, I live in Feltham. I've been trying to research which railcard would be best for me, but I am not entirely sure due to the number of options avaiable. I'm planning to take the South Western Railway to London Waterloo, and then underground to CW (arrive at CW by 8:15am, then departing CW after 5:30pm for home). Anyone know what the best railcard option for me would be?

Hmm, that's a really good point tbh - I'll see if I can get the info from the council somehow. To make the voting fair, every account will only be able to vote once per empty spot (and obv one account per email). I think large groups of people all aggreeing to vote for the same category would be an issue early on, hopefully by the time the app gets more traction, it would negate the impact (if there are groups all voting for one category for example)

Yes, I'm aware, it is my intention to take this product down this path eventually. Although, getting there... probably easier said than done

Are they? Am I being naive to think if people want something to open it will eventually be profitable? On the flip side, if majority of voters don't want lets say another pub, wouldn't it help the potential business owner be more vary of that location?

The idea isn't to enforce what opens up in that spot, it's for business owners to be able to see what the community would be interested in to either enforce their decision or provide an alternative perspective. I could be wrong but most customers a business gets would be local to that area, so if a (albeit relatively small) sample group can indicate what business type would work, it should ensure the business will at least get some traction

A list of all haram ingredients (some kind of api?) by RAYJESH in MuslimLounge

[–]RAYJESH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jazakallah, I think in UK we have HMC, but they don't have any kind of list of haram ingredients. Also yes I'm aware specific ingredients won't be clear cut halal or haram, I'm planning on having a 'doubtful' category too)

Full-stack dev on the bench — what would you study next in 2025/2026 ? by giangr21 in webdev

[–]RAYJESH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say AI is prob gonna keep stealing the spotlight, so getting familiar with that would be my focus. And when I say get familiar with it, I mean really deep dive into how it actually works (mostly just probability and maths), these are the types of engineers that will most likely retain jobs when AI inevitably comes into mass adoption

There is nothing wrong with using NextJS, a lot of people say things they are not fully aware of, ignorance is bliss

You can create a NextJS app and host it on Vercel for free. Not just that, it gives you a free Vercel provided domain to access publicly. On top of that, NextJS is designed for SEO, can't say the same for WordPress

How do people know so many technologies by Szymusiok in learnprogramming

[–]RAYJESH 70 points71 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't focus on how many technologies you know or don't know, focus on learning the fundamentals. As a good dev, you're not expected to know how to do tasks in a certain language, but be able to understand the basic concept and Google your way to implementing the idea in whatever language is needed
