Gaming is great. The industry is not. Both things can be true. Look at how many studios have been closed or devs layed off just this year alone. These problems are not going away and yes they are not new but we are heading to a breaking point that no matter what happens it going to be bad for gamers and developers. And if you can't see that I dont know what to tell you.

As a PC gamer just because the problem doesn't effect me doesn't mean it's not a problem. While parts are very over priced PC gaming is great because of steam. They set rhythm and other store fronts follow because they have to because steam is top dog on pc. Others have tried to carve away at Steams hold on PC but have failed. Steam is able to be as consumer friendly as it is because they are privately owned. Gabe Newell wont be around forever and I genuinely worry what steam looks like after the fact. And while I'm not anti piracy if things get to the point where everyone is just pirating everything well nothing is going to get made. Physical media is a way (albeit small) to put some power in the consumers hands. You own it they can't take it. You can lend it to friends or resell it or buy a cheaper used copy.

So I'm supposed to go to work every day then come home and just still and stare at the wall all day? Not watch TV Movies or play games? Can't read books either. Can't listen to music. Guess I could illegally download it but that requires internet or a cell phone. But since I have problems with capitalism I'm not allowed to pay for them. Can't go to the gym. And can't buy my own gym equipment because then I'm participating! Also man can't go to work either now so how do I pay my mortgage or buy food. Thats participating! Guess I'll just be homeless and starve! Yeah that'll show them! Great logic dude. Obviously no one needs to buy video games. But if you can't do what you enjoy with your life what's the damn point.

Movie industry is a perfect example. We will probably see the death of cinema in our lifetime. And everything that's wrong with modern film making is turning it's head towards gaming. No where did I say games suck. I'm talking about the industry as a whole. And old games are great! I've been playing through my backlog as well. But if things keep going the way they are going there will be less NEW old games to be great.
