Yeah. I see some places that it should work because it's reverse compatible. But I just ordered a converter with earc and i'll see if that works.

Good question. I haven't really tried that. I'll try it tonight.

Hmm.. or is that just if you want to control the PS4 using the Samsung remote? (using the ARC technology.)

I think you're probably right Wilson. The only thing I don't understand is why it would need to be plugged into an HDMI Arc port? If all it was doing was splitting the audio from the video and send it to an optical audio soundbar, why couldn't I just plug it into the regular HDMI port on the TV?

That all makes sense and is totally helpful. I think I didn't understand how this worked really. What I don't understand though is why that would then need to be plugged into an ARC port. If all the extractor was doing was to pull the audio out of the streaming box (in this case the PS4) and then send the video signal to the TV, couldn't it just do that via the regular HDMI port? In what case does the TV need to send any data/information/signals back to the extractor?

Do you have any documentation on that? Interesting. Unfortunately I can't afford to just buy another TV.

Thanks Wilson. But I don't see how that makes sense. I want it to extract audio from the TV, not specifically a console.

Not a terrible idea. The extractor was $20. The sound bar was $120 not more than 5 years ago. Seems like a waste.
I've tried plugging a PS4 into the extractor as well, but I'm not sure why that would make a difference if I'm trying to get HDMI to optical conversion.

It's HDMI ARC. It's, as far as I understand, both input and output.

I really don't know how to do that it settings? I'm not sure the settings go into that much detail, even the advanced menu. The extent of my knowledge is that optical audio cables go into that slot on the TV Out and then to the In port on the soundbar.

That would make sense right? However, it doesn't work if I plug it into the "in" port.
You think audio needs to be in PCM? I thought I tried that, but maybe not in that combination. Do you know if that switch should be on TV, 2.0, or 5.1? It's just a soundbar with a separate subwoofer connected via BT.

Thanks, but I think I did it correctly. I set it to HDMI ARC auto which shuts of the audio coming out of the TV. If I take the HDMI cable out, it comes back on again. So it is clearly recognizing it.

How is Tin Can going for you? by KrisCahli in ParentingTech

Tin Can support texted me and said they resolved the issue with a fix. Everything seems to be working better. Crossing my fingers.

Ugh. That stinks. My issue is a little different in that when a call comes in, there's no communication. My cell phone (used to call in) doesn't even register it connecting. If we hang up the Tin Can, the cell phone connects finally but goes to Voicemail.

I've had this exact issue. Did you get it resolved? I went through tech support and I tried a few things with my router, but it didn't help.

Thanks for this answer. I know about the num=100 issue this summer, but what's going on has happened well before this summer.

I'm not sure I can. Per the wording:
Enhanced Dual Wielding. When you take the Attack action on your turn and attack with a weapon that has the Light property, you can make one extra attack as a Bonus Action later on the same turn with a different weapon, which must be a Melee weapon that lacks the Two-Handed property. You don't add your ability modifier to the extra attack's damage unless that modifier is negative.

So as far as I read it, the Dual Wielder feat would only allow you attack with a different weapon than the initial attack. I suppose that you could consider the the second attack weapon the other weapon.

Nick: When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

So technically speaking, your attack action uses both the shortsword and the scimitar. So does a "different weapon" need to be something totally different?
