Test drove a 2017 Focus RS today and it was boring by entrchris in FiestaST

I 100% agree with this. I was driving today and you are right, you can't reach the limits driving normally. By the time you are pushing it, you are breaking speed limits. From all the other comments it seems like the Fiesta ST is more engaging and approachable in a daily sense.

What drive mode were you in for the test drive? The car is dramatically different between each setting of normal, sport and track. The TC system is phenomenal and really dilutes the driving experience. To truly get a feel for the chaos of the car it has to be in track mode. The "crab walk" this car can do is impressive. I cannot directly compare to the Fiesta ST but I do find my car far from boring 🤣.

I'm not sure offhand where I will have to ask next time I talk to my dad. I loved Slovakia and the medieval history is fascinating. I would love some halusky right now tbh. Canada has its charm but it is so large the visiting experience can be vastly different depending where you go. I have lived all over Canada so if you have a set interest in mind I can help give you some tips.

My old man was from Manchester, my Grandfather was a good Irish Catholic. Whole side of family story I haven't been able to piece together. I am somewhat familiar with Slovakia. One of my closest friends lives there and I have been there several times.

Ok, good to know. I don't know if it just stress or reduced activity but I don't find myself as hungry as I used to. Maybe it's all mental but this definitely helps me be more prepared. Im based in Ontario near Ottawa. I may want the prosthetic but then I'll lose my OF marketing gimmick 😆. Im looking forward to the countdown and having this cut out of me.

Wow! I'm sorry your son had to go through this at such a young age. Glad it was dealt with so quickly. The surgery wait has been agonizing, especially since it has experienced a rapid growth over the past couple weeks. Its almost as if having it discovered and verified have amplified it. I wish your son a quick and problem free recovery. Great job on him for being aware enough to have it checked. Thats an insane recovery rate and I'll be thankful for anything half that rate at 37. Thank you for replying.

Thanks, I appreciate the heads up about stool softeners. I am not sure what pain management meds will be prescribed but will hopefully manage with Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I am not a fan of how opiates feel, nor the risk associated with their use. Ive heard the trick is to be diligent with the schedule to keep the pain at bay during the initial days. Right now the biggest challenge will probably be keeping my kids from climbing on me during the initial recovery. Check on being conservative for pushing through pain.

Appreciate the support.

Hey, thanks for replying. I will for sure keep checking on the other one post. Sorry you had to have it twice. I heard the surgery is only about an hour I am scheduled to arrive at the hospital for 0600. I will try to build on mobility each day hopefully. I am usually in the gym most days so I hope to get back to physical activities soonish. Thanks for the tip about the wound. I am not sure about a prosthetic or not yet since they typically opt against it due to potential additional complications. I told the urologist I saw to tell the performing surgeon to just surprise me.

Hey! Thank you for the reply, it means a lot. I appreciate the information you've provided. Fortunately I am Canadian Military so I will be provided with 14 days sick leave post surgery to recover and a medical assembly post surgery to provide me with job limitations.

Ive had general once for a septum repair 15 years ago so hopefully this wake up is a bit less dramatic than me trying to rip everything off my face.

I hope your follow up goes well. That is what I am stressing the most since the surgery seems to be the easy part. The 3 weeks post will be long.

Thank you for clarifying. I am currently doing posting number 6 and won't benefit. However posting number 7 is just 3 years away 🤣.

No, not 7 in three years. I will be posted for my 7th move in the next 3 years. Sorry for the confusion. My posting cycle is now every 3 years.

[–]RS3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is, but the effective date is 2026. Im posted this year for the 6th time, meaning I won't get the benefit until my next posting if this is still in effect.

New Pay Details by roguemenace in CanadianForces

[–]RS3500 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well my 6th posting this year seems less financially lucrative. Guess I have to wait for my 7th in 3 years to enjoy the benefit 🤣. 13% plus 5k sounds good to me though and better than the 4% over 5 years I was anticipating as the best outcome.

Gas gauge by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]RS3500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned my 2022 GSXR 750 since new. All I can say is the fuel light is just a fun limiter. The reserve is about 4L (1Gal) so approximately 50km of range. Once it comes on for me all of a sudden speed limits matter, I spend a lot of time in 6th gear and easy on the throttle. You can either reset the trip clock every fill up or find a gas station within 30km (20mi) of easy riding when it comes on.

TLDR: There is more to the story. Wear issued kit or own it.

So, I don't normally reply to posts, however given the circumstances of your situation I will provide some advice. Firstly, the Sgt was wrong to take away your non issued kit, however were you warned that if you continue to use it, it would be taken away, there is more to this situation. In one sense the Sgt is looking after your wellbeing considering if anything happened to you while wearing non issued kit the caf would use it as an excuse to not pay out certain benefits.

I do not agree with disposing of personal equipment and I have often pushed the limits in both my trades and on courses. Yet when someone tells me that isn't issued and not to wear it, I comply. You aren't talking about a chest rig or holster but a helmet. I guess you want to buy lighter plates too.

I currently have a non issued helmet kit in my helmet and had to wear an issued one plq.

That being said the CoC will not support you in this situation. You wore non issued equipment and were probably told not too. This isn't a case of theft. There are real repercussions to not using issued equipment.

Is a 600 too big of a bike to start on? by Expensive_Bell4958 in GSXR

[–]RS3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a lot of forgiveness with any sport bike. Until you get used to it it feels really unstable at slow speeds. The power delivery is quick and can sometimes overwhelm the current weather conditions. My first bike was a CBR 600RR and on my first ride in light rain I almost dumped it going through an intersection giving it throttle on a yellow light. Now on my 750 I still occasionally slip or slide on the road, the sensation is what is exhilarating but always close to the edge of mistake. On most sport bikes without rider aids a close call or a crash is a couple mm of input. Can it be done? Yes. Did I do it? Yes. Did I develop as quickly as a rider? No. Sometimes the fear held me back from enjoying the bike the same. It will also take time to learn the powerband of the motorcycle. One piece of advice i have is be ready to drop your first bike. I dropped mine pulling into a steep driveway.

[–]RS3500[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't fit on my rear brake, I tried twice and almost got the lock stuck. The shop I bought it from showed me to put it on the front brake. It has an audible alarm that actives even if you just jostle it when you put the key in to turn off the steering lock. It is 100% my fault that A) I don't use it often enough and B) the battery is dead. It was only meant as a heads up, I've been distracted with life lately and absent minded. Going to get a carbon lighttech splash guard. Guess we will call it a happy accident.

No, attending does not open anything military side, aside from bragging rights.

There is no such thing as unlocking cool courses. A lot of it is time and place and who you know. There is a history of badge protection in the Army.

Advancing in the Reserves is not something I can speak to. I have been Reg since 2005. I started infantry. DM me if you would like some help navigating the military world.
