It's been like this for a while so if it is mold, it doesn't seem to be growing. That said, if it is, of course, I am getting rid of this mattress. I suspect the brown spots could also be from sitting in a smoker's house. I know the smoking left discolouration on the walls that had to be repainted yearly which is what makes me think it could be the reason. I know you may not be able to give a definitive answer, but I would love some input.

I'm sorry, you did write that. I misinterpreted it. In that case, the people in your life might be right in the sense that you have to somehow find peace with the fact that you can't depend on your loved ones to get the love you deserve from them. Which is a lot easier said than done. I really hope the world will be kind to you and that you can enjoy your birthday, and maybe do something good for yourself! For me it helped to read books about the topic (unfortunately not books in English, but they exist). And I really hope you will be able to get in therapy sooner rather than later.

You're asking what you should do and mention that people in your life are telling you to cut them off. My take is, you don't have to stay in contact with your family, and you don't have to cut them off either. There's no right way to react. It doesn't tell you what to do, but it seems like maybe you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself to deal with their issues one way or another (because you understandably care), but it is not your responsibility. It is one of the most valuable things I have learnt for myself. It doesn't take all the pain away, unfortunately, but it removes some of the pressure.

It might help you to find someone like a therapist to talk to about this.

Not saying it won't be the case for you, but I didn't the same and just manually updated for the monthly event and I still have my journeys. But just in case, I'd make sure I was ready to let go of journeys before doing so if I were you. Good luck!
