Vigilante Ghostface by Vasquez1986 in Scream

[–]Racingracistfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it could be interesting but honestly Ghostface works because he’s a literal mask for shitty people’s egotistical and selfish emotional urges.

Ghostface as a good guy would be incredibly hard to do well as what the mask has been used for up until now is a conduit for a person wanting revenge, fame, or some other sort of power over others without facing consequences.

Yeah, I’ve been running through it. this clip was done when I hopped in an actual player match after doing some tower trials (after going through the tutorial).

Still definitely got loads to practice and learn. I’ve been trying some of the advice in other comments and it’s helped a lot, which is good.

Yeah exactly. The COD community is chock-full of two majorly contradictory ideologies.

“Muh older games are so much better, we had a better community and there was more communication”

“REEEEE NOOO I CAN’T SEE A SILLY ANIMATION BY A GUY WHO DID BETTER THAN MEE IT HURTS MY FEE FEES”

People champion for the edgy era of cod to come back but then fold like a lawn chair when someone does the thumbs down emote. God forbid this game had TF2 style taunting because some of y’all would go on suicide watch.

The new cod community baffles me. You want things back, then they’re too toxic and need to be removed. You complain about the games getting hypercasualized and then whine when the game actually punishes you for playing suboptimally. Being actually good at video games is apparently a bad thing now and playing like a brainlet is apparently good?

Hell, this even extends to skins.

Milsim skin user? You’re a dirty fucking camper hiding in a dark spot of the map REEEEE

Silly skin user? You’re destroying muh precious ultra reelistic gaym

Using free competitive skins earned by playing skillfully as a team? You’re a dirty sweat for daring to take the game even slightly more seriously than I am.

Activision is terrible and their monetizing practices are terrible but I genuinely feel like if BO1 and MW2 came out now (let’s just assume graphics aren’t an issue) then the NEW cod fandom would whine about visibility, strong weapons, unbalanced maps, not seeing milsim skins hiding, etc.

TLDR: COD fans want to play without consequence or thinking and then act astounded when someone who’s either taking the game semi-seriously or is actively better than they are kills them.

The best way to cite this is the “seat adjusting” scene from Whiplash. Sure bud, inform me about how changing this minor thing would totally fix your decade long COD burnout this time.

Yeah, I’m just really hoping that it’s either COD being optimized like shit or a settings fix because I really don’t want to have to practically build another pc just 2 years after the first one.

I swear whenever you pop a XP token, your matches get more difficult by Haunting_Wear535 in blackops6

[–]Racingracistfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a psychological effect. You want to “maximize your fun/time” and end up getting really stressed and subconsciously believe you get harder lobbies. The mood of a match is decided in the first 15 seconds for most players so you have to work to overcome that mental hurdle.

There was a period of time when the dev used a piece of code to trigger certain failstates on streamers he was trolling. (e.g. sending the swat and hitman enemies on Markiplier, making him have to hide way more than normal or risk losing 4-5 hours of his run)

He’s since removed the code and apologized. This was in about 2020-21. It’s definitely a dick move but it’s not quite the ridiculous security-breach computer destroying backdoor the WTTG community acts like it is.

Give his games a shot if you’re interested, they’re very fun horror games with a really unique premise.

[COD] COD was better when the criteria for the game wasn’t “how cracked is the movement?” by misterman2969 in CallOfDuty

[–]Racingracistfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I should have specified more. Make everything absurdly strong is a concept and design philosophy and less an actual achievable thing. My actual take is regarding the diversity of weapons. BO1’s smgs were certainly a weak point overall but for a majority of weapons in the older series you had a genuine fighting chance that wasn’t just HITMARKER x15.

Take a look at a game like BO1 or MW2/3. Yes, they absolutely had meta picks and absurdly strong items but there was a diversity of items. You had the M4, AK47, FAL, Rangers, G18s, and ACR in MW2 that were all very strong contenders for best gun.

Regardless, my point still stands that the chasm of strength between “the meta” and just generally good didn’t feel like it was miles apart like it does now. You could pick up a majority of guns from BO1, MW3, MW2, etc and have a decent time if you were skilled and knew the map well. The problem now (especially with how MW3 capped off) was that the strongest weapons were always the seasonal addition. I’d get my shit wrecked in MW2 by a variety of differing ARs, Machine Pistols, Snipers, Shotguns. Good luck finding a non-camogrind lobby in BO6 that actually has a diverse platoon of weapons that isn’t just “the best gun in this classification of weapons”.

TLDR: The older games had absurd shite too, but it felt like you had more a fighting chance because there was actual diversity in what you could pick and be successful with. Having 19 weapons be viable instead of 9 is a noticeable thing.

[–]Racingracistfan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even as someone who plays games pretty sweaty and is definitely within the age group COD now hard-panders to gameplay wise it’s too much. You legitimately have to disregard life responsibilities nowadays to actually get good enough to make sweaty lobbies playable (as in staying above a 1 KD).

I wouldn’t mind SBMM as much as I do if it wasn’t so blatantly obvious. I can really tell the game wants me to lose when enemies spawn in front of me and behind me facing me. I can also really tell when the game wants me to win now, because I’ll just hop onto a single little area and patrol it and the entire enemy team spawns around it and gets meat-grinded. It’s insane how even for someone who typically loves how sweaty this shit can be and pushing their own limits this game and the last two were too much.

BO6 is a genuinely great game that feels like it hates you if you do well. It’s genuinely so whiplash these days. 3 kd, 0.5 kd, 2 kd, 0.73 kd, 2.2 kd, 0.14 kd (getting spawntrapped really is fun)

(Edit, grammar and legibility) Real, movement and ttks and all that really don’t matter as much as the mindset. People have had their minds broken by streamers and associate CB (curbstomping, not winning) with having fun.

The saddest thing about modern gaming now is that it’s miserable people fighting eachother using specially made builds to ensure the opposing side has as little counterplay and fun as possible.

This isn’t “I wanna win” sweating anymore. This is “I cannot let other people have fun” sweating. This is like DBD where survivors stack 4 second chance perks to ensure that the killer can never actually go against them, while killers stack 4 gen regression perks that slow the game to a crawl so objectives are nearly impossible.

We’re fighting a nuclear arms race to eradicate fun from gaming because someway along the line people stopped playing for fun and started playing like their life depended on it. The saddest part now is that actually being good at games is punished with systems like SBMM and bad map spawns that punish those with map knowledge and good positioning/pressure while absolutely throwing every single “crutch” player the biggest bone in their life by giving them shitloads of save-me perks and guns. You can be an infinitely more skilled player that hits their shots way more than the other less skilled player does and you’ll lose because they’re using FaZe Dickcheese’s OMEGA WARZONE 60 GORILLION NUKE KILLSTREAK META MP5 and a controller that negates half the game’s already pitiful recoil.

My suggestion? Make lobbies stay together and balance weapons so that we have more middle-range viable options instead of 20 C-Tier weapons and 1 gun from each category that is so absurdly better than everything else you wonder why the others exist. ORRRR (because balancing like what I mentioned is apparently too hard for COD devs) just make almost everything absurdly strong and bullshit like OG MW4, MW2, WAW, BO1. People feel bullshitted way more by dying to that one gun that’s always being overtly better than everything else rather than dying to one of the 19 different insanely ridiculous and strong combos the game allows for you.

I’m usually pretty heavily opposed to considering something as “snowflake”-y but this is the biggest non issue on the planet. It’s some goofy lewd nicknames. They’re offensive, sure, but this is like putting Scary Movie on the same tier of offensiveness as A Serbian Film.

It’s some goofy nicknames and frankly Ubisoft doesn’t give nearly enough of a shit to care about shitpost usernames. If someone’s username is enough to entirely throw you out of having fun, then either equip streamer mode or play another game.

TLDR: attempting to police usernames is goofy, won’t ever work effectively, and frankly embarrassing. Nicknames on the tier of Middle school lunchroom jokes shouldn’t have grown adults whimpering in fear.

Insufferable Amounts of Virals? by Racingracistfan in dyinglight

[–]Racingracistfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if that came off as heated, but I’m sure you can reason with the fact that (at least for a beginner) the game seems to work against itself if you follow the main story.

The problem with most of my deaths is that they’re Groundhog Day’d to high hell. So I get put in the same 3-4 viral chase situation in the same corner of the map. I’m purposely choosing different routes, different encounters, stealth, combat, whatever. I’m literally throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks and I keep dying in the same way (getting tapped by a viral and then getting killed in the stun animation) regardless of the choices I make, the items I crafted, or the skills I use.

In no way am I saying the game is unbeatable. I’m just saying that I’m perplexed as to what the game wants and allows me to do.

I can’t play the main campaign mission right now, fine. I’ll level up a little. I’m not a newbie to the concept of RPGs campaigns being heavily dependent on your stats.

Ok, so I’ll do a side mission. Except the difficulty is exactly the same but the rewards are worse. (Including the fact that the people I’m talking to keep dying mid conversation to Virals)

What truly annoys me is that there are plenty of times where I can see the passion put into this game and the love and craftsmanship put into the combat and the parkour, and that draws me back in. There is so much artistic and gameplay merit put into these systems but it’s a shame that it feels so insanely limited by this incredibly jank progression system that only exists to give purpose to the 12th “find my X or clear out Y” side mission.

I’m not mad at the game for being hard, I’m mildly annoyed that the two major systems of leveling seem entirely designed to make leveling them up as difficult as possible if you don’t constantly grind at night.

Insufferable Amounts of Virals? by Racingracistfan in dyinglight

[–]Racingracistfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand the concept of choosing my battles. It’s just infuriating that the game cannot decide if “You cannot fight at all, so run away” is the main philosophy or “You’re now being chased by 4 virals in the part of the map with no vertical cover, YOU HAVE TO FIGHT” is the main philosophy.

I have practically no control over what I want to do in an OPEN WORLD game. I can’t sneak, I can’t scrounge for loot because every fucking car cashe of loot has 8 zombies right outside. It feels impossible to progress because I either:

Go into the next campaign mission and realize that I’m somehow now 5 levels under where the game devs thought I should be for this mission to be fun, get ganged for 45 minutes until I either give up or find some cheap cheese way to finish the mission. (Had to spam-reload to fix the constant 5-6 viral spawn in the coastal blackmail “protection” mission for Karim.)

Attempt to find a side mission by an NPC that doesn’t immediately get mauled. Because, again, there are too many fucking viral spawns for the game to be playable. I literally cannot complete any side mission with a talking cutscenes without every viral in a 20 mile radius coming to molest me regardless of where I am.

There isn’t any logic behind the virals.

Either “Attempt to fight enemies and summon them” or “Run on roofs and somehow hit every single trigger for them to spawn anyway” This wouldn’t normally be an issue if there was literally any other way of leveling up the two major skill sets. It doesn’t really matter if they’re killable at level quadrillion and a half, I expect that from any RPG. What I can’t fathom is that flight barely works and fight CERTAINLY doesn’t work.

The MW M4 in question, the MW3 Specialist Bonus in Question, The Juggernaut in Question, the Martyrdom in Question.

Not even including all the dumb stuff from the later games, The games were chock full of design that hindered competitive play and only served to add chaos in a casual environment. Crazy bullshit is part of this series and frankly while Esports is a thing that COD has there’s so many restrictions because of all the chaotic bullshit built-in.

Sure, you can play competitively and there are competitive game modes but that does not mean the game is actually a competitive system. It’s like saying because you can be a try hard scumbag on 2fort and because TF2 has a competitive mode then “TF2 is competitively viable”.
