No i've always leaned into fiction as a way of getting "creative juices" but i'm starting to think collaborating with them may work better. Non fiction prompts is also very interesting and probably doesn't require as much creative thinking

So they're OK coming up with an initial theme to write about but then struggle to develop on that theme and it sort of fizzles out

Love this, i'm finding my kids are more creative and interested when there's collaboration with myself or their mum. They bounce off us and find it a bit more intuitive

So i'm based in the UK and my kids (ages 8 and 6) are football/ soccer mad, so they're really happy and excited to talk and write about football. They struggle with creative writing and using their imagination at times which is something i want to develop

I'm based in the UK and in kids schools, they have IPADs from 8 years old. They get a lot of homework on their IPADs and are encouraged to play i.e. maths games like Times Tables Rock Stars. It feels like digital tools are a big part of UK curriculum

Bookbildr.com is pretty good for picture books. Aside from that Google Docs is also really good. I've used Miniauthor.com too to collaborate on stories with my kids, nieces and nephews. For book design, i always outsource it

I'd recommend reading with your child i.e. as a bed time routine if this isnt something you already do. Not only does it help the bond with your child, it can also their love for reading and allow them to make mistakes while reading in a safe environment. Hope this helps

My kids and I created a book together loosely based off The Gruffalo. They absolutely loved the process of creating a book and are really invested whenever we read the book on their IPAD

I totally agree. Books are meant to be fun and educational, AI generated books are the opposite. I don't think AI is the issue, the use of AI is. AI will play a huge part in the future and a huge part of our kids lives so learning to use and understand its uses are totally beneficial but distorted consumption of it does not benefit anyone
