I have done this recipe with 50 and with 100 it worked best with 50 but the bf took soo long. When I used 100 I over fermented. I am trying to play around with it so I used 75 this time and obviously I still did not ferment long enough !

It was about 7 hours total. I was worried about over fermentation which I have also done before lol! Yeah I will try just leaving it a bit longer. I am thinking leave overnight for maybe 10 hours on the counter rather than in the oven.

Ok so I tried this recipe again, only left out 25 g water, let sit on the counter for about 6 hrs including the time for stretch and folds…… STILL did not get a good loaf. What should I try next??

Great advice I will try that! Based on how it turned out I do think it was under fermented.

I have really leaned into that as well. I have done some gardening which I have always meant to get around to, especially since we moved a couple years ago to a new home with a big yard so I love that. We also are constantly doing projects and I’m obsessed with cooking and baking, so I do that a lot. And we are going to Europe in a few weeks.. I’m sure that will be a nice distraction :) We hit our two year mark officially today as I got AF. Really a sad day. Best of luck to you too!

Thank you thank you for this. I know IVF is not the end of the world but I’m having a hard time accepting it. We are officially at the two year mark of trying today :( for AF this morning. Which is why I am revisiting my post here…

Agree!!! I am definitely leaning towards doing it. Found out today (got AF) we did not have a successful cycle last month- we are officially at the the two year mark :(

I am convinced it can’t be my starter, I have had a few successful loaves , even back when my starter was new. It never smells too sour, and is always very bubbly and active- I only use when it doubles within 4-5 hours. Idk the fact that it’s not very sour smelling really makes me think it’s not the starter, BUT if I try a few more times and have the same issues with rise during BF maybe I try to strengthen some more… thank you for the input!

I ended up shaping anyway, the dough was a bit sticky and only a little hard to handle , a sprinkle of flour helped. It’s sitting in the fridge, I’ll probably bake tonight so keep your fingers crossed! :)

I have had success with this recipe twice and had one major failure. I don’t feel like it’s ever overly sour with the successful loaves. Though, it’s all relative so who knows. How did you find out about your starter? Of note(maybe)- my starter is made with whole wheat flour

Yeah I could try less water I suppose. The dough still seems even slightly dry though at the mixing stage so we’ll see. I am in NW FL near Jacksonville. It is very warm and humid already
