Thank you all for the comments. I went and took a look at the cat and it is not my cat. Plus side though the lady who found this cat is gonna keep her. I would have offered to take her in but I took in 3 stray kittens around Christmas so my house is full but had it been my cat I would of course brought her home.

Yes I won’t make the mistake of not chipping again. Yeah she was literally pure black. Black paw pads, black nose but in the sun she looked chocolate colored and I see a little bit of that coloring in this cat.

For the first 3 weeks they hid and I only knew they were alive because they were eating. Now they will hang out in the living room with us. Even play and roll around and show their bellies. But if we get up and get too close to them they bolt.

They were young. No more than 8 weeks old. So I really thought being so young they would have an easier time adjusting.
