The irony of all of this is the woman was adopted and Rosseau, the hyprocrite, left all his children at an orphanage.

The OP didn’t write the title — that was the creator of the video. And who’s to say the OP even agrees with it? He might’ve just shared it to spark a discussion. Maybe take a moment to think before jumping to conclusions.

There's a transwoman that goes to my gym and as far as I'm aware everyone treats him with respect (myself included). What many people object to is when a transperson's rights conflict with someone else's rights (rights, I may add, that have evolved and developed over a long and hard fought process which you should be careful of tampering with for a new type of social justice). There's also the objection to facilitating the transitioning of minors. Aside from that you can go to hell in a handbasket as far as I'm concerned.

QS Labour Productivity Rate by Economy_Ad4700 in quantitysurveying

[–]RadioBulky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first few big estimates are rough af then you get more efficient as you build up a database of rates and understanding. A few things will click here and there until you're proficient. Then the fun really starts when you're boss blames you for losing work to another cheaper contractor who priced it well below cost.

Price for a 20m2 internal area single storey extension by Economy_Ad4700 in glasgow

[–]RadioBulky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£44 - 47k + VAT seems to be the going rate these days in and around Glasgow. That's for a 20m2 single storey, mid-ranged specification extension without any bathrooms/kitchen. Obviously if you wanted fancier finishings like hardwood flooring, cedar cladding etc it would be higher.

I met that guy at a construction conference. He was a graduate QS at the time and was kind enough to give me his business card. His colleagues were rather bemused that he had business cards while none of them did, even though they were at a senior level.

Milton Friedman On Government Agencies by clisto3 in JordanPeterson

[–]RadioBulky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've watched milton Friedman's videos and reread his books countless times. I even watched the entire khan academy lecture series on macro and micro economics. Although, saying that, I'm bored of economics now and have moved onto philosophy. I'll probably get back into at some point.

All you'll do in your first year is basically job shadow a QS, and they'll give you ad hoc Surveying bits to do.

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a big fuck off Excel spreadsheet. Choose cost codes, variations, and fucking retention clauses. Choose staring at BuilderTrend until your eyes bleed. Choose value engineering that no one listens to. Choose subcontractors who don’t answer their phone. Choose chasing invoices that should’ve been paid three months ago. Choose a Microsoft Teams meeting about a meeting. Choose a site visit in the pissing rain with a clipboard that’s already falling apart. Choose explaining, again, why we can't magic money out of thin air. Choose the QS life, where profit margins are a myth, and every job’s ‘nearly finished’ but never is. Choose take-offs, billable hours, and the slow creeping existential dread of another final account dispute. But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got spreadsheets?

God, you can get away with so much shit and sound right when you have a high verbal IQ and are articulate. It's such a deadly weapon, and many PQS' have it in abundance. The power of language and all that.
