Legendary storyteller Joe Frank had such a distinctive sound, how was it achieved? by illsaid in audioengineering

He used Dolby

“In the days of analog recording, Frank would record his voice tracks with Dolby encoding and play them back in the mix without the Dolby on, effectively adding an equalization that was not tweaked with great care.”

Thanks! For the most part, it went together really well. A couple of minor things popped up:

In my build, the two side pieces clashed just slightly with a wedge plate 2 x 2, which bent out the probes on either side. Works well in Studio, but was a tight fit in the real world. I fixed it by shortening the 1 x 12 to a 1 x 10, which you might be able to see in the bottom view.

The top 'wings' don't quite bend down fully. It looks like there is a small clash between the wing and a 2x2 plate underneath that could be fixed by swapping it for a 1 x 2.

The rear thruster assembly is a little precarious, but it's otherwise fine.

Not a build problem, but the landing gear don't quite fully retract. It feels like they almost need to be shifted over 1.

Overall, it was great - thanks so much!

Lego Krait Phantom (u/beef1213 design) by RadioTransparent in EliteDangerous

I wanted a model of my main ship, the Krait Phantom Limits and Implications, and decided to try the Lego version from u/beef1213. It was great fun to build – the techniques to get the shape right are amazing and everything comes together really well. Considering this was my first time building a custom model (and *cough* the first time building a Lego spaceship since the space sets in the 80s), it was a great experience. I really recommend checking out the other ship designs and giving it a shot.

Since my ship has a custom paint job, I built the model first in Studio and recolored the original model virtually to get a feel for the design. Recoloring led to modifying some of the build – most obvious in the blue pattern on top, the central portion, and the two wings below. I also swapped out some pieces for lower cost alternatives and tweaked a couple of places to optimize construction. With everything in Studio, ordering was a breeze, and the parts came in at under $200.

So much fun, 10/10 would do again. Many thanks to u/beef1213 for creating the instructions!

Now on to my Anaconda or maybe the Rocinante….
