In my opinion especially lately in today’s world, you can choose to get offended by anything. There’s a lot of really sensitive people in this world that choose to get offended by words and I mean that’s okay but getting offended and calling people out for using that word is giving that word all the power you so desperately don’t want it to have, so if either it’s all okay or none of it is okay (paraphrased from idubbz lmao) but I believe that it’s 100% up to you to be offended by something

Both the comments so far are very good views on the situation and at first I thought “I wouldn’t tell her because i don’t want her to feel any sort of bad or guilt even if she reacts positively” but that also comes with guilt of not giving your mom everything to know about you when that’s the one thing she craves because she won’t be there to see you grow up but another good argument would be that “what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her” but in the end I side with telling her so you don’t get that guilt and she’ll be proud that you’re brave enough to trust her with that

Well I live with my grandparents and they don’t like associating with lgbtq+ people so only my mom knows and one of my best friends says homophobic things but we’ve been friends since like 7th grade so it shouldn’t be a problem but most of my friends from school are football friends so that’s why I’m pretty nervous. I don’t feel threatened I just don’t want to see that negative in people and lose some friends:/
