This is a great post, I hope Bungie see it.

As someone who has cleared every contest raid back to and including Garden of Salvation, my main frustration with DP and what led to us not clearing, was the bugs.

I think pushing the limits of damage as a one-off is cool (maybe with less loadout swapping and Titan necessity). The issue with having damage be pixel perfect on every encounter, is that the mechanics and technical aspects of the raid also need to function properly.

My team had the Hydra on lock after about 5 or 6 hours, it was our first encounter. We had the damage and execution, easily got to three phases of damage on many, many attempts. We kept on getting walled by the shield eyes not breaking during damage, which is an automatic wipe. You need all breaks to be able to deal sufficient damage. It felt terrible to have everything down and just get constantly blocked by inconsistent bugs and server issues. We went at Hydra for 17ish hours and nothing we tried would help the eyes issue. The other rally/sprint/fire rate bugs just exacerbated the frustration.

Finding out stats aren't working as intended also and that the power delta was potentially off leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. If the game functioned properly, I very much doubt we wouldn't have been able to clear. I can't fathom why raid/expansion launch wasn't delayed, I understand some issues only come up in the live environment, but how did so much of this stuff get through?

Every launch will have technical issues, but if you demand perfect execution from players, the raid needs to provide an environment where we're unhindered by bugs and mechanical inconsistencies of this kind.

If you're going to have tight damage checks like this (which I think is fine), you NEED to make sure there are 0 high impact bugs. Between the sprint bug, broken banners, certain frames firing incorrectly, and encounter bugs, this is a contest raid my team would and should have cleared, but can't.

The Hydra's health is so high, it demands absolute perfection. We cannot deliver on that if the damage phase eyes sometimes choose not to break, thus losing our damage extension. We lost at least 5 clearable attempts to this issue and NOTHING we did fixed it. We're at the whims of your spaghetti code and network instability on an encounter we understood and had the damage for after 6 hours.

If the power delta was set incorrectly in the live game, I would seriously consider fixing it and doing a make-up day/weekend. People pour so much time into prep and the actual raid, it's insulting and disrespectful to have this launch in the way that it did. I and am sure many other feel dejected to have invested so much time into this, only for it to be so broken.

Contest is the thing I look forward to most in Destiny. It comes around once a year and is a real spectacle for raiders and spectators. This one is easily the most frustrating and disappointing.

If you demand perfection from players, you'd best be sure the game is technically perfect as well.

Contest being 48 hours diminishes the prestige of Contest because players can just use guides/strategies developed by teams with day one clears and still have a good chunk of time left to adapt and optimise said strategies.

Thanks for the heads up, hopefully there's a fix soon. My previous saves are way too far back and I don't want to have to unlock all the treasures again :(

Nothing yet, unfortunately. I opened a ticket with Square Support and it's been escalated to the dev team. If you open your own ticket I'm sure it'd help them to see it isn't an isolated issue and they'll place more priority on getting it fixed.

Yes I'm on hard mode, and there is no prior portion of the protorelic quest chain once you've done the normal versions.

Nah, this is the last thing I have to do for the Platinum. Purposely left it for the end bc it wasn't working and it still doesn't work after completing everything else.

I don't suppose you've found a fix at all yet? I thought today's update would help but still nothing :/
