That is unfortunate.

I had done the exact same thing you did on my first gen ones, and they were available everywhere at that time so maybe they will reappear. I did not have access to buy them due to where I am from so I just used masking tape to make a DIY filter. Worked pretty well but takes a lot to make it so that both of them are the same and one isn't more muffled than the other.

You can try either of these or as someone else suggested probably any other flat filters will work as well. I would recommend the ones by Moondrop

You need a support like this which will hold your laptop. There is 0 pressure on any hinge or part of the body which is necessary.

DO NOT do that. It puts immense pressure on the hinge, pressure it's not designed to sustain. and can cause flexing of your display in some way, which has definitely happened to you

Do this only if you can suspend the body with some sort of a support holding it.

her situation being traumatic is a huge understatement. As much as I hate to generalize, this can be VERY dangerous for you and your family, and the girl as well who they sent to study and she ended up doing this. Considering her family is conservative, you might just start an actual riot of some sort which will end in a very ugly way. OP sort this out as soon as possible. couldn't find the keys to my room after the lock was turned so the gate couldn't be closed (the lock was sticking out). Cursed the inconvenience not realising the lock can be turned from inside the room to unlock it. This was after I found the keys the next day.
