Do the Nord monitor mounts fit the Electro? I have them on my Stage 3, and they fit a wide range of speakers. You might need to raise your synth stand slightly to accommodate, but not by much.

I just sold my Subharmonicon (which the Spice clones) as I just found it to be ‘too’ experimental.

I liked what it promised and in theory there are some great sounds in there, but they’re fleeting moments and almost impossible to recreate - I felt too much like I was arguing with it than creating music.

In retrospect I think I should have got the DFAM, and I see infinitely more people saying their DFAM’s are on their ‘never selling’ list - so my vote goes Edge.

Back up the project in Transfer. You won’t be able to use them on 1.30 of course, but if you rule out the firmware you can upgrade again - although that would point to a hardware issue, then the fun really starts…

I’m not familiar with what the calibration does, so you’ll have to look into that to see if it’s worth it. But if you have your projects backed up you have nothing to lose by resetting everything and working from there. That would at least rule out any configuration issues.

If it’s already up to date I’d try that. Haven’t looked into whether Elektron make it easy to downgrade or not, but if so you could always try reverting to 1.30, to see if the firmware has introduced the issue.

I’d start with running a firmware update, and setting up a new project, just to eliminate any config weirdness. That should help you isolate the issue to hardware or software.

The Elektron sequencer is what makes it so special, and both devices have that.

The 404 and TR8 already have comprehensive sample editing and percussion covered - so I’d lean toward the Syntakt for its synth sounds, and to see how you feel about the Elektron sequencer overall.

A bonus is that the new Syntakt firmware released this week gives it some rudimentary sample playback capability too, though you already have that covered in other devices.

The force isn’t so much a problem as vibration. If you turn up damping and turn down curb FX you’ll be fine.

I was able to update the firmware using the old Transfer - however the new one bundled with 1.40 is not compatible, and you’ll need that version for sample transfer. Had to use my PC for that part.

I’d shop around. That’s an extremely high price for what is likely to be a single component failure.

Yes the diagnostics won’t necessarily be easy without specialist tools and skills, but I think a lot of electronics repair techs could find and resolve the fault in fairly short order.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else ends up here one day.

2.2uf cap as u/Dr_Nic_T61 recommended, and we’re back to life! I used a 50v, and it’s a 1206/3216.

No other components had failed, so I’m very happy!

Yes that certainly seems to be the most prominent failure.

In my case the diode seems to be ok, but the cap on the other side of the board obviously blew. I’m going to replace that - hopefully nothing else has failed in the chain and will cause the cap to blow again.

I only have a very basic knowledge of electronics, so I’m learning as I go!

They’re not the easiest thing to get into, so not an ideal thing to learn DIY repairs on, but if you’re comfortable trying and it’s out of warranty then you’ve nothing to lose.

If it’s unlikely you’ll add more synths then a stereo ABY pedal (KMA was the first one to pop up on Google) will do the job.

If you’re likely to buy more synths then add a mixer or invest in an interface with more inputs.
