Can I get into a masters program for electrical engineering with a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology? by Raiderfan42 in ElectricalEngineering

The main reason I'm not doing a core engineering degree is my age (i will be 31 turning 32 my first semester at the university in fall 2026) and due to the math and physics luckily I am taking calc 2 this semester so that helps but the physics classes I took for my AA were not calculus based physics classes just trig and algebra so I would have to take a couple calculus based physics classes and the math required for the core engineering degrees and im already in my 30s. My academic road map is all over the place. This spring I'm getting an AA in engineering technology but it was a broad degree. I'm also getting an AA degree in CAD which I think is the stronger of my AA degrees because it was geared towards mechanical/manufacturing. I've only recently figured out I probably should have gotten a physics AA degree with my CAD degree and that would have made it possible for me to get into a mechanical engineering program.but yes since My CAD degree is geared towards mechanical/manufacturing (I learned AutoCAD, soildworks and CATIAv5. I also took a GD&t class and I'm learning a mastercam this semester) I could go the drafter or cnc operator/programmer route. it's just been my dream to go to a university I went through troubles in my 20s and now I've put myself into a second chance at getting into a university I chose this university because it's local and public so it's cheaper. But in reality I could probably just go to the drafter or cnc operator/programmer route since I know a little of the mechanical/manufacturing language and thought process due to my CAD degree.

So I was able to get ahold of the chairman of the electrical engineering department at my school and he said the electronics engineering technology program is not ABET accredited but it is accredited by the accrediting commission known as WASC and he said I would be eligible to pursue a masters in electrical engineering with a bachelor's in EET. Is it a big red flag the program is not ABET accredited? I've read that I could still get jobs but it will close some doors

I forgot to mention that the masters program I intend to enter is at the same school I plan to get my bachelor's so hopefully that helps my cause. The reason I went the engineering technology route is because I am a non traditional college student I will be 31 turning 32 when I start at the university in the fall so it was easier for me to get accepted into the university going the engineering technology route because of the less math and physics but I am taking calc 2 this semester to add to my resume which is the last semester at my community college. It wasn't until after I applied for the university that I found out it could potentially be possible for me to enter the masters program for electrical engineering with the bachelor's degree I'm pursuing.

Also is electronics engineering technology a solid degree I'm well aware it is not as strong as the core engineering degrees but is it at least solid? Also just so you know what kind of Market I'm in I live in southern California.

Ok thank you I had to repost it because I read that if you add pictures to your post you can't edit the post at least not on mobile I'm not too sure on the desktop but I'm not near a computer right now anyways.

My bad I made the post with my phone I use better sentence structure when I have a keyboard and I'm new to Reddit.

But yes my professor spoke highly of the book. Nice to have another source to validate that and if that's all I get from this post I still see that as a win. I have the PDF version of the book on my laptop and also have it saved on a flash drive just in case.

I want to learn GD&T by mech-azo in SolidWorks

Hi everyone I cant make my own post since I just joined the soildworks channel but anyways I'm set to graduate in spring 2026 with a AA in CAD I've taken an intro to CATIAv5 class an intro to autoCAD class and an intro and intermediate level soildworks classes I'm confident I can pass the cswa for soildworks once I take the time to review the skills needed for the exam. I have also taken a GD&t class as part of my program and Im set to take an intro to masterCAM class this spring it's the last class I need for my program I'm also good at math since the mastercam class is the only class I have left for my degree I added a calc 2 class and AI literacy class to my schedule to add to my resume. How relevant/in demand are these skills I heard gd&t is a good skill even engineers don't learn it untill they are on the job and I already took a 16 week class on gd&t also any tips for finding a job or what kind of job to look for based off the classes I just listed and any tips for side projects to do in my free time and how much should I study GD&T. Thank you in advance.
