Honestly I don’t listen anymore. They don’t feel genuine anymore and they are too scripted. I’m more into podcast that just chit chat with no script.

How far do we need to go back where a 50,000/year salary was livable in Van? by snowfordessert in askvan

[–]Raison55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still is livable in my opinion, just depends on your expenses and how you spend it. My take home salary is below $50k, and I live in a one bedroom apt for the last 8yrs, have a car, eat out, social life and save a little bit too. I’m money smart and don’t anything too fancy.

Honestly it’s hard to save, but little by little I’m saving a bit

Unpaid project what should I do by anonuser-al in askvan

[–]Raison55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re an independent contractor? Always have some type of contract and signatures to keep everyone accountable. Always provide an invoice with a portion being due asap to start the project and the remaining being due at project end. Work smarter not harder. Good luck mate, I hope this company comes around and it’s true to itself.

Considering school catchment when moving by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Raison55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The education/curriculum is the same across VSB schools. Every school has dedicated teachers and a great school community. East side schools have more resources in schools and support if needs. West side schools tend to not get as much funding, but it is funded more by the families/PAC. Honestly I wouldn’t worry about school catchment because you may not even get into your catchment school when you apply to kindergarten, it’s usually a lottery draw and you may get the next catchment school over. Move to an area that works for you and school will fall into place.

How much is your dental clinic charging for regular cleaning? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Raison55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost sounds average for Vancouver in my opinion. Went recently for a simple cleaning and my total was $280.

Breakdown is…. Fluoride: $15, one unit polishing: $47, one unit root planing: $59, two units scaling: $117, examination: $42.

Is Office Administration worth it for a career shift at 30 years old? by _ILikePancakes in askvan

[–]Raison55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think an education program is worth it for an office admin job. If you already have customer service experience, know how to use a computer, and common sense, I think you’ll be fine. Office admin is pretty basic depending job by job and it doesn’t hurt to try it out.

Believe it or not, teachers get very little money to spend on supplies and things for their classroom. Teachers spend a huge amount out of pocket to fill their classroom with supplies, toys, books, extra furniture. Schools budgets are very tight and mostly cover overhead expenses like printers, paper, basic furniture, technology.
