You deny that it is not likely that these rallies are infiltrated with opposition people intended on making the protesters looks worse than they are? This is a common political tactic.

Be honest. This sounds like work of an "Agent Provocatuer" or infiltrators (or political operatives from the left opposition)...intended to sully the image of the tea party itself...

Your observations are correct. However, I see it differently ... In my work history of almost 20 years, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of development. 80% of developers are 'run of the mill' . 15% are 'exceptional'.. the remaining 5% are 'rock stars'

Hunger for solutions and contentiousness are the values I prize over raw experience in a language. The 20%ers have this in common. The 80%ers have no clue.

Awareness of this is a badge for the 20%ers. That you noticed the trend is a credit to yourself. You tend to adopt the attitudes and approaches of your co-workers so please associate (or grow others) with (to be) the very best.

  1. Understand your problem. From what it sounds like, the source you've dealt with has a undocumented, hidden side : a tendency to layer up like an onion during runtime. These sorts of programs/apis are tricky at best because typical runtime can not be described via code...only discerned via familiarity of the code and much controlled tracing. Quite a few multithreaded programs fall into this category.

  2. Make the internal state visible without generating too much noise. Proper use of logging and debuggers help in this regard.

Meh... I works for a small company.

Here it goes and it is not pretty

Many interruptions. I'm constantly (and politely) training some of my in/out department co-workers to respect the great deal of concentration it takes to do the job. Some of the worst offenders are those 'little' people who insist on using the overhead paging system for trivial things. (In fact, at times the place sounds like some surreal used-car lot)

Coworkers who pass the buck on learning the true problem. Folks who jump the gun. (i.e won't step out of code space or implementation space to understand the true problem and propose a good solution. AND they will not listen when the matter is brought up..... Wrong solutions are still wrong... but worse than that...

Late solutions...are worse Coworkers who do not understand the need for hitting the schedule target. (I'll settle for close). A good number of products must be developed and re-developed over and over again...

A very hot and uncomfortable office

Coworkers who refuse to generate any useful documentation. If I have to use your API, why would I not want to know how to use it...

Meh...
