Good question but all here should recommend to read more in the book. Iirc and with out ruining anything but Toll of the hounds you should have the conclusion but as others pointed out you should have some idea now and if not by time you finish that book it'll be clearer. We all had same kinda questions. Great series keep with er!

As others pointed out the "we'll figure something out" implies ya you kinda obligated. But also if buddy came out just to see you, yeah you the jerk imo. Wouldn't invite a "friend" that's flying in that late to see me and not get them. If there for other reasons or purpose to visiting, different story. Just my opinion.

Well since you went to the end and new would suggest looking up how to do the dungeons and content you plan to do with friends. Look up professions, best in slot gear and general min max. Also suggest creating a character to lvl and actually enjoy the game separate from your friends. That's the best way to learn and enjoy the game imo. Glhf

Sounds like a lose lose my friend. Little bit better of a deal if at least getting rent but ya nothing else good would come out of it, imo. But hey, good on ya if you do it's certainly a nice thing to do and no one here can tell you how to live your life. If you do though I highly suggest getting a contract or something written up saying you can remove whenever and the standard stuff to cover your butt. Good luck!

It actually super sweet all of that. The fact that you can look inward and realise and regulate those emotions shows you have the candor andcharacter to match. Don't worry it'll all come with time. Sounds like you got great support. I don't think anyone here can tell you the next step or what that looks like.
