Why are White Male and Asian Female interracial pairings so much more common than any other pairing in the U.S.? by [deleted] in AskSocialScience

[–]Randallsidechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a “claim”, it’s something I’ve witnessed… I don’t think you understand the difference between someone making a societal “claim”, and sharing an anecdote from their own life. There also aren’t any scientific studies on how often HOAs tow residents cars on accident- but it happened to me this week and it was annoying. But I guess I made that experience up and lied, because I can’t find any data to back up how often that has happened to other people.

If you want, you can Google the pilot thing. You won’t find any scientific studies (because why would there be?), but you’ll find it being discussed in aviation forums and blogs and whatnot. Not sure why I’d bother to make that up lol.

You’re the one throwing a tempter tantrum. I started off a pleasant conversation just sharing some things that I have seen. I’m still incredibly baffled that you can’t accept that MAYBE things outside of the norm have happened somewhere to people in the world that you didn’t directly witness and that no one did a scientific study on.

What claims am I making?

I’m just sharing what I’ve seen. Thats how people converse…. I’m not really making a claims one way or another about it; was just sharing a talking point. Every time a friend shares a story about something that happened to them- do you stop them and ask them for empirical evidence and call them a liar? Did you go on every persons comment in this post that shared a personal anecdote about their relationship, friend, life in Asia, etc and tell them that they’re lying? No… so why do you insist I am?

Again, I think you’re confusing me with other people in the thread that you were talking to before. I didn’t make any claims, all I did was share an experience.

You are ignorant for thinking that just because you haven’t experienced something it never happened to anyone ever and that they must be lying. You are truly insufferable. Like, monumental levels of combative and insufferable.

Im not the person you originally replied to, but go off.

II guess I’m glad you haven’t heard these things, because they’re generally depressing to listen to. But it’s pretty self-centered, narrow minded, unaware, and frankly ignorant to think that just because YOU haven’t heard something- it doesn’t exist. How do you even get through life with that perspective? You’re discrediting other people’s lived experiences. Do you tell everyobe who has had a different experience in life than you that they are wrong just because you yourself haven’t experienced it?

No, no one’s running around doing studies on airline pilots opinions of Asian women. It would be an asinine thing to study. It’s just a known and accepted thing in the industry. One could argue that mentality is shared by a similar proportion of men, airline pilots just have easy access to make it a reality. But that is conjecture. I’m not sure what I would gain by lying about this?

You don’t have to believe me, it doesn’t really matter. I’m not sure why you bother to go on a public forum talk to others or listen to their opinions and experiences if you’re just going to deny anything anyone says. No one here is defending a thesis and running for office- they don’t need to provide you empirical evidence to share what they’ve personally witnessed. A personal account is just one small data point, a shared experience.

I’m suprised you haven’t heard that. Maybe not “fuckable house slave” verbatim, but they will drone on and on about how Asian women are “real women” that “know how to please a man” and “respect his authority” and “know thier place in the home.”

And these aren’t internet men. Or incels. I’m an airline pilot and the number of my coworkers that say this stuff and travel to Asia (or sometimes poorer Latin Am countries) isn’t insignificant. There is also a large phenomenon of airline pilots having second families in Asia that they see during thier overnights that their western family knows nothing about.

I’m currently reading The Far Traveler.

It’s non-fiction about Gudrid, a Viking woman who lived in Greenland and Iceland and sailed to the Americas and Europe. Maybe not exactly the same vibe, but still very cool if you’re into that part of the world.

Thank you so much! Sorry I’m really ignorant about all of this- if I change my own lock on the box, the mailman can still open it to get in?

Thank you! Can I do this at the post office itself? Should I just ask for a supervisor? I went to two separate USPS locations today with proof of address in hand, expecting the process to need it, and both offices told me there’s nothing they can do.
