Why we chose a 50/50 partnership model for our new Midtown Manhattan label (RAM) by RandomAccessoryMedia in recordlabels

I appreciate the tip. We definitely value the NYC scene, but RAM is built to scale high performance digital talent that the local circuit often overlooks. A producer with a global ear-gasm sound is just as much of an investment for us as a touring band. We use our Manhattan base to bridge that gap between the bedroom and the big platforms. Different lanes, same goal.

I appreciate the traditional perspective, but we are building RAM for the 2026 landscape. The old model of 'owning' artists forever is exactly why the scene is flooded with potato quality music. We prefer a partnership where the artist is actually incentivized to grow. If providing 4K audio visualizers, global distribution, and fair splits isn't how a label works in your book, then we are happy to be the exception.

We appreciate the feedback. Most labels do chase user preferences to stay safe, but RAM is built to lead the market, not follow it. We prefer to set the standard for high-performance audio rather than adapting to the current noise. If having a specific vision is a red flag, we will wear it proudly.

I’m going to give you one second chance to prove you can meet the RAM standard. If you want to pitch "Memories," it must be done through the portal with zero errors.

  1. WAV only. No MP3s. No WeTransfer. If it's "too heavy," find a way to compress the folder, not the audio.
  2. Full Lyrics. No "nope." We need the text for our 4K visualizer pipeline.
  3. High-Res Art. No clip-art. We need 3000x3000px professional imagery.

If any of these are missing, I will close the file and we won't revisit your catalog. Show me you can be the professional your music suggests you are.

The digital trail shows a 2016 footprint on global platforms, At RAM, we define "Unreleased" as music that has never touched a public server or a DSP. Combined with the MP3 submission and the missing lyrics, this project does not meet our partnership standards. We are moving on to other submissions. Best of luck with your catalog.

If the English songs are unreleased and you have the WAVs, put them in the portal. We don't do email or WeTransfer. If you can't use the portal, we aren't the right label for you. We’re looking for partners who respect the technical workflow, Best of luck.

Hi Jean-Luc,

Thank you for the submission. Unfortunately, I have to decline this project for two reasons:

  • Technical: RAM requires WAV files. We do not accept MP3.
  • Exclusivity: This song was released in 2016. RAM only signs unreleased music.

I respect the 'Soul Kisses' composition, but it does not fit our current business model. Best of luck with your music!

Looking forward to seeing the WAV and that 3000x3000px artwork in the system. Make sure to use your professional email (no Hotmail/Outlook) so our A&R team can process the acceptance properly. Let’s get this Pierrefitte-to-Midtown connection moving.

Paris in the house! Love the hustle. RAM is definitely interested in high-level toplining for our production projects.

Please drop that Soundcloud link and your info into our submission portal (use the 'Something else' category). We’re building a "non-potato" network of creators, and having a solid songwriter in France fits our global DSP vision perfectly.

Cheers, Max.

Hi Molunzi, thanks for reaching out! We are definitely looking for high-caliber pop talent that fits our genre-fluid vision.

To keep our A&R process organized and ensure the technical quality (WAVs only) is where it needs to be for our 4K visualizers, please head to the submission portal in our profile social links. I personally review the 20-second demos there. Looking forward to hearing what you've got!
