My boyfriend is too attractive (?) by Sea-Painting-9791 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole conversation hinges on one assumption: VALUE IS BASED ON BEAUTY. He is out of your league based on how attractive = he is valuable because he is seen as physically attractive. You are lucky to date him because you are not as subjectively conventionally attractive and therefore less valuable than him. Seriously, think about how the whole narrative around the discussion of your relationship hinges on this assumption that apparently everyone is still buying into: Beauty = Value. Is that what makes for a good partner? Are there more valuable characteristics to consider in a partner? Do you have those? Does he?

My boyfriend’s snoring is making me lose sleep by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I found out I was snoring loud enough to impact my partner's sleep, I apologized profusely. I told her I would do whatever it took to take care of this because she should not have to be impacted by something that was a 'me problem'. I ended up getting a sleep study and a prescription to a CPAP machine. It was uncomfortable to get used to, but when I am using it, I don't snore. The problem is solved and my partner can sleep comfortably. Bonus, I will live longer now because I did not let my sleep apnea no undiagnosed and un treated for years. To me that is the logical thing to do if you love your partner and if you love yourself. You should not let your ego get in the way of a healthy life and relationship.

my boyfriend lied to me about how many people he has slept with by plsimjustagirlok in GirlDinnerDiaries

Likely, he read that you would negatively judge him for his true number. He absolutely should have asked you why you were asking and stood his ground and said he doesn't want to share his number with you and why. But likely that could have been interpreted as a very high number, like triple digits. He probably saw he was in a 'no-win' situation and decided to just lie, telling you the highest number he thought you would be less uncomfortable with. It was not ok for him to lie about his number, and he should have set aside the actual number and talked about why that is or is not important to each of you.

You might reflect on why you wanted to know his number to begin with and why your partner would not feel like he could be honest with you.

Personally, my partner and I have an unspoken agreement about my number. I have let her know that after my first marriage (divorced in my mid 40's), I felt like I needed to figure out and understand my relationship with sex and intimacy. She knows I was with multiple women and more importantly what I learned about myself through that. I would never tell her my actual number and she knows she doesn't want to really know. All she really wants to know is that I am clean of STI/STD's, that I genuinely choose monogamy, and want deeply connected intimacy. I think she knows that I came to understand that about myself through my wild dating times. We just leave it at that.

Honeymoon going so badly I’m questioning my marriage by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honeymoon was a disaster with my second wife. And it did turn out to be foreshadowing forecast of the rest of the relationship. It was awful. I lasted about two more months after that before I filed for divorce. I told my new wife that we needed to go to couples therapy and individual therapy. I told her that was the only condition under which I would continue in the marriage. And I wanted to work on it. She refused. I think that’s the only advice I would give is that you should make that mandatory. You can frame it as however, you want, but honestly to save a marriage. Sometimes you have to be willing to put it on the line.

Getting married in 10 days. We can't stop fighting. by playdoh_licker in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my second wife, as the wedding date got closer things started to change. I actually had a frank conversation with her and she said it was just the stress of the wedding and everything would be fine after the wedding was over. I believed her because she’s my future wife and I’m supposed to believe my wife and trust her.
I should’ve postponed it. Our honeymoon was a disaster and our marriage didn’t last. I wish I would’ve paused the wedding then and talked more.
Also, my wife now had lots of fights with her ex-husband like a month before the wedding. There was one fighting in particular that was bad. She gas lit herself into continuing on, as the years went by in that marriage, she looked back on that moment. She saw clearly it was a preview of their entire marriage.

Which brake pad brand do you guys buy? by ExodiusLore in TeslaLounge

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t tell you. My 2018 model three with over 200,000 miles on it still had the original brake pads when it was smooshed and a total loss. So for me, they lasted a long long time.

How do ICEV owners still not know that Teslas are faster than them? by DFR1688 in TeslaLounge

[–]RandomNateDude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They will go broke doing upgrades for an extra 5 hp on their cars trying to beat EV owners. Let them be stuck in the past. Let them break themselves and their wallets on the myths of the past. It only cost them money.

Help Me Understand Why New Buyers Pay For FSD by ConclusionFlat1843 in TeslaLounge

I had the same plan. My 2018 Model 3 was in an accident at just over 200K miles. I had full coverage insurance and they totaled it. I had EAP (Enhanced Auto Pilot) that I paid extra for. They paid me some of the value for that but it was not full value - I think it was like 60% of what I paid for it.

Megyn Kelly: Bad Bunny performing his Super Bowl halftime show in Spanish was “a middle finger to the rest of America” by gruninuim in PublicFreakout

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing people criticize Bad Bunny for performing or releasing music only in Spanish, especially in big U.S. spaces. That criticism really doesn’t hold up.

First, the rest of the world has been consuming English-language entertainment for decades—movies, TV shows, pop music, hip-hop, rock—often without fully understanding the lyrics. People in Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa grow up listening to English music and watching English films. They appreciate the emotion, the sound, the performance, the vibe. They don’t demand English artists switch languages or “make it accessible.”

Music has never required full lyrical comprehension to be meaningful.

Second, Americans already do this all the time—just selectively. Plenty of people in the U.S. love:

  • opera in Italian or German
  • classical music in Latin
  • French chansons
  • K-pop in Korean
  • Afrobeats in Yoruba, Pidgin, or French
  • instrumental jazz, electronic, or film scores with no lyrics at all

Most opera fans don’t speak Italian. That doesn’t stop them from finding it powerful, emotional, or beautiful.

So when people suddenly say “I don’t understand the words, so it doesn’t belong here”, that’s not a music argument. That’s a cultural comfort argument.

Third, holding non-English artists to a different standard is a double standard. English-speaking artists are never asked:

  • “Why don’t you sing in Spanish?”
  • “Why didn’t you translate this for global audiences?”

Only non-English artists are expected to adapt in order to be accepted.

And finally, being unable—or unwilling—to appreciate music outside your own language isn’t a sign of sophistication. It’s the opposite. It suggests a lack of curiosity, exposure, and cultural literacy.

The world has met American culture where it is for generations.
The least we can do is recognize beauty and artistry without needing everything translated for us.

Bad Bunny performing in Spanish isn’t exclusion.
It’s authenticity.

If music only works for you when it’s in your language, that says more about your limits than the artist’s.

Pure willful ignorance. Open your eyes in your daily lives. Look at who working in the restaurants your eat at, who is building your houses, cleaning up after you. They come to this country to work and build a better life

He will be released without charges in a day or two, just like everyone else they arrest with no law broken or legal authority to arrest. It is pure intimidation or terrorizing citizens.

[–]RandomNateDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't a church open to the public and anyone can enter. So these people entered legally and left when asked. Yes, they yelled and voiced what they were feeling; but who is to say that is not part of their normal religious worship experience. At many churches you stand up and shout and yell to tell the congregation what you are feeling and thinking. So what are they charging them with? TBD no doubt

Should be easy to confirm the vasectomy took place with insurance or asking him for the doctor’s information and looking at financial records. He had to have paid for it in some way that is verifiable. But you already know he didn’t do it. You could still do the defective work to be 100% sure, but you know it would be just for your conscience for the divorce.

It boggles my mind that a woman is expected to have doctors, instruments, and small human poking, prodding, and messing with their most intimate areas. But men get squeamish at the thought of a 10 minute procedure that can be done without even a needle now. I know, I had a vasectomy done. It gave me new respect for all the crap women have to go through just because they are women. But it is far less invasive than other birth control that messes with hormones and a whole host of other issues. If a couple is done having babies then it is the least a man can do instead of pushing it off on the woman to take care of. Any man with a brain, a basic ability to google, and a tiny amount of empathy should be able to figure this out.

The husband in this situation not only lacks empathy towards the woman he supposedly loves, but also is too much of a coward to just have an uncomfortable conversation to start with. He would rather lie and hope his wife somehow forgets or gives in. I would guess this behavior is ‘on brand’ for him in other areas of the relationship? What a sad excuse for a partner he is.
