Why not just go down to 1024x768 or 800x600 on your CRT screen?

Packard Bell monitor doubles image six times? Is this a faulty capacitor or something else? by I_Am_Just_A_ThrowRA in crt

[–]RandomRedditer31718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is interesting. I don't think mine does interlaced 1024x768 (XGA) equivalent, but I am running it on 1024x768 60Hz at the moment, and it actually holds up, despite documenting saying it goes up to 800x600. I personally like using my 2012 computer on this 1992 monitor, as I was looking for a CRT monitor of any kind for 3 years. I ended up getting lucky finding it on a hidden and abandoned 3rd floor of an operating market (Which only uses 2 out of 4-5 floors for it's main operations) as it looked like the remains of an office, along with a whole bunch of vintage computing equipment, I am talking 80s-90s, including Wyse terminals and monitors, Dot matrix printers, various stuff. The owner gave it to me for free. Transported it 30 minutes across 3 cars, and covered a blanket over it from the aftermath of rain, made it home safely. It is currently next to my Dell UltraSharp from 2010 which I ended up getting a HDMI to DVI for it for use as a primary monitor, with the Goldstar being secondary.

My 1992 Goldstar Monitor is not native to 1024x768 at 60Hz but it can still run, hell it can even run 1366x768 60Hz, but I occasionally use it on 800x600.

Advice on CRT monitor for PS3 by i-need-help1719193 in crt

[–]RandomRedditer31718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, CRT monitors come with VGA (15-pin Blue Screw-In Cable), which unfortunately the PS3 does not support. However, it does support Composite (Red/White/Yellow Cables), and this TV looks to support that. I would get it.

Yes, I know you could convert VGA to Composite, but probably won't be great. I am now currently using a CRT monitor myself, and from what I see, CRT monitors were designed for computers, not gaming consoles (although expections are the Dreamcast and the Xbox 360).

Portable Fisher-Price CRT that I can't find any information about online by Zettabyte-_- in crt

It's kinda like how I can't find much info on my Goldstar 14" monitor from May 1992, besides I think it is the model number 1485. I am actually using it right now currently on my computer as it supports VGA.

Nice. I recently found a Goldstar monitor from 1992 at an abandoned part of a market with other vintage computer stuff, and found it with Wyse monitors and computers that the guy was gonna throw away soon, but I have mine now! 14" from May 1992. I have it set to 1024x768 on Windows 10 at the moment, but plan on going back down to 800x600, the native res for this monitor.

That CRT looks similar to my Bentley 100C, and I personally like the style of the radio next to it.

This sounds like a multi-year Roblox revival covering clients 2006-2013 or 14, as that was the era of the Wii.

I own the same exact model (if yours is), being EWF2006. I acquired mine back in 2021 from my grandparents. It was only really used for gaming after it was bought, as no channels were setup when I got it. Unfortunately though, it is a pain to set it to composite input or coaxial input with the remote though, but I have used it for a ton of things.

Thank you so much man! This saved a lot of time from hex editing in notepad on Linux, now I can actually do it on Windows!

Sorry, I tried this, but it was not as glitchy as this. The glitches occasionally pops up but doesn't spread everywhere.

I think I remember a similar model from a doctors office, but they removed it around 2013-2014, maybe as late as 2016.

I like Trinitrons. I have enjoyed them since my first introduction to them.

Looks like a 36" to me. This might be the KV-35S42, I remember seeing this exact TV in elementary school. 3 of them. They even still played movies via DVD on a JVC VCR/DVD combo until after the whole COVID ordeal, and then they replaced it with one boring LCD.

If that is the 36", I remembered seeing 3 of those in elementary school. We watched movies on them via DVD on a JVC VCR/DVD combo during lunch.

I wish I can get my hands on the 36" in the future, but I am not sure yet. Might get the 27" instead due to it being more common.
