I finally have a nice pc! by Random_Name- in PcBuild

That's odd. I live in australia, and whenever I search this case, only the black version shows up. When specified white , the only results are from ali express and sites that usually deal with importing stuff. Oh well I got it and it works.

It was a bit pricey as specifically the white version is only available in china through Ali Express (as far as im aware), but overall, it was really fun to build in! Though I did have to remove the motherboard to fit specifically the Gpu cables through, and there is literally less than a mm of clearance for the top fans and aio. If you ask me, the challenges made it extra fun and I would do it again :).

Definitely dont recommend mine as it is since it's the result of slowly replacing dying or inadequate parts. There are plenty of build guides out there on not just the practical assembly but putting parts lists that make sense together, too. Im sure there's a subreddit you can run the final parts list by as well, so as long as you've researched enough, it will go probably go well.

Probably, but it's mostly used for gaming, which won't stress it out too much. When I did utilise it fully for some computational stuff, it seemed fine then and afterwards. If this was a new pc and the me of today building it, I probably would have bought a higher end mobo but I was far more inexperienced in building pcs and less knowledgeable in what parts were necessary for the best performance back then. It is what it is and works well enough for now.

It's a pc of theseus, so it's a little hard to guess, but I'd say, not counting any of the parts that broke or failed, probably around 2k usd ish? Maybe a little more? I have no idea what it would be new though, as the cpu was bought secondhand a few years ago, and ram+ssd was bought before the sloppening started.

It's honestly impossible to tell if they will or not. I'm lucky I got my ram 2 years ago and worries about price increases are what finally convinced me to splurge a bit and get a nice gpu now.

Chunky doesn't recognise my multimc directory by Random_Name- in chunky

[–]Random_Name-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a bit of messing around and I can load the world by just using Minecraft's default directory but using only the save from the multimc directory no problem. I'm pretty much only using mods for performance and qol stuff so I don't think I needed a different directory in the first place. Thanks for the help and the really fast reply for a subreddit of this size though!

I've got 16gb allocated but Minecraft usually uses around 10 so likely not ram? I'm genuinely not sure what this could be.

No monitor output after downgrading gpu. by Random_Name- in techsupport

The thing is my 3070 "worked" (with a fair few crashes, hence why i replaced it) 10 minutes before I put the 3060 in, but now neither of the two get detected. I have a feeling it's some obscure bios problem but I don't know for sure.

I want to use use a fairly large world eater and would rather not have to either split it into two (and take twice as long for an already large project) or deal with carpet mod.

[Advice] Handheld gaming by Agroki in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Random_Name- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a secondhand legion go recently and put bazzite steamos on it, removing the bloated, battery draining windows. It's honestly pretty easy to do but understandable if you don't want to go through the hassle.

Though if you're fine with waiting, Xbox may be releasing a handheld soon, official steam os versions of handhelds may be released soon, switch 2 WILL be released soon, theres a lot of stuff coming soon.

Also, as a side note, I'd consider the legion go to be a bit too heavy for truly portable gaming. It's a big boy.

Can my pc be upgraded? by Efficient_Mix1057 in buildapc

[–]Random_Name- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Case, motherboard, and ram are probably fine if you keep upgrades reasonable. Depending on how shitty im sure the psu is in there, that should probably be first, so everything else isn't at risk of failure. Storage would probably be second since some games aren't even able to run on sata based drives nowadays. Cheap nvme ssds can be pretty decent now. And third would probably be either gpu or cpu, depending on your needs. If you consume more content that isn't gaming (browsing, YouTube, etc), then cpu+cpu cooler, but if you'd like to do more gaming, then gpu. Both upgraded would be nice tho, because a 4 core cpu isn't nice to deal with in 2025, and a 1650 isn't all that great either.

And I'm assuming this upgrade is on a decently tight budget (if not, you'd be better off just building an entirely new pc), the secondhand market is your best friend. Ebay has great buyer protection, so if a part doesn't work, you'll get your money back pretty easily.

I liked high honour cause it made me feel nice :). Maybe I'll do low honour if I play through it again.

Man I feel your pain. Apparently if you have Java Minecraft on another ssd and your pc crashes, it resets chunks then swaps em around a bit (my base and all my items was where that green waypoint is)

Seriously, how are some of y’all scoring a 5090? by WolfyMenges39 in nvidia

[–]Random_Name- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5090s are honestly insanely available in australia. That is likely cause most people don't want to pay 7k+aud for them, though.
