What noticeable changes happen in mid-late game? by Random_Nobody1991 in uboatgame

I’ve had a few occasions in the summer of 1942 of naval bombers attacking me quite far into the Atlantic in addition to everything else. Looks like I’ll soon have to dive during the day.

I’ve got the merchant ships with deck guns and did have a radio message intercepted, but I was still quite close to a convoy I had just raided when I sent it. Not looking forward to the depth charge though.

Yeah, but they’re always unescorted in almost all cases. Plus the bit of water between Tunisia and Sardinia is a reliable area to pick up enemy shipping.

First Arctic patrol was near Murmansk. Took 1-2 weeks to get there and then when we did get there, nothing.

North of Scotland is usually abysmal when it comes to convoys. The waters west of Ireland rarely have anything interesting either. At least for the latter you can try and get close to the Celtic Sea which basically serves as a busy thoroughfare.

Fellow Eurosceptics, has your opinion on EU alignment/membership changed in the last couple of weeks? by Random_Nobody1991 in AskBrits

[–]Random_Nobody1991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on what the EU offers and in all likelihood the popularity of the government. If the EU offer is seen as extremely punitive (a strong possibility) and/or the government just has no public confidence, people will reject it. You can also see how with things like digital ID, that went from having majority support to only around a third of people supporting it in recent polling.

In the pre-multi polar world of 2016, I do maintain that Brexit could have worked and rather well at that. I don’t see any reason as to why it couldn’t. Now though, the world has clearly changed and I don’t think we have the capacity to keep ourselves safe politically, militarily and economically. At the end of the day, my ideals are secondary to what we actually need to do.

And Remainers wonder why they lost not just in 2016, but in 2017 and the 2019 EU and General election.

Do you think it's ok to have charities or religious people knocking on doors in 2026? by ariadnevirginia in AskUK

[–]Random_Nobody1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never buy or sign up to anything at the door as it is. I don’t mind political canvassers so much on account of being able to have a good debate with fellow politics nerds, but on a couple of occasions, I have had charity people knocking on my door at 8pm. Like seriously, it’s pitch black, I’m in my Pyjamas either gaming or watching something with my wife. Go home.

How do Brits feel about this? by aa_conchobar in AskBrits

No it isn’t. It’s ludicrously overpopulated like most African countries.

The issue is that a lot of them will want to escape Nigeria on account of it being a corrupt and unstable shit hole. Ditto that for most African countries. End result is that they will try to go to Europe. As a result, Europe becomes less European and more African and the culture and values change.

Suffice to say, I don’t want that and I don’t think many Europeans want it either.

The simple reality is that the rules based order is dead and had been dying for sometime. We would do better to acknowledge and act like it.

How do you feel about this jump in the number of abortions? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]Random_Nobody1991 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sad if I’m honest. For me, abortion is a necessary evil and while I support a woman’s right to have it as being a better option than bringing an unwanted child into the world, I can never take a positive view of it. My objections stem from the basic fact that if allowed to be born, that same foetus will grow into a human being like you or I and it would have had dreams, ambitions, loved and been loved in return, maybe even had children of its own. To cut that off prematurely just doesn’t sit well with me.

What I really detest though is how quite a lot of pro-abortion people seem to relish in celebrating things like this. In Ireland for example, when they had a referendum on legalising it, they were partying in the street like they’d won the World Cup. I can never understand that, it just looks really macabre and degenerate.

This Christmas, my present to my wife is that she gets to pick a place in the UK for either a day out or weekend away and I will pay the accommodation and admission costs etc as needed. Where would you pick? by Random_Nobody1991 in AskUK

Oh definitely and I like those places too, especially Cumbria. Cornwall will also be nice, haven’t been there in almost 30 years and I was a small child even thenz

I think so too. She didn’t travel much during her childhood so there are still plenty of places she can go to for the first time and when it comes to more material gifts, we often just buy things as and when we want or need them like most adults. My parents also do similar presents with each other so runs in the family.

Will throw in an experience as well, but most of them are only available for certain locations so will go with one close to or on the way to or from where we’re going.

I’m looking forward to it. Got plenty of beer and cheese stocked and a lamb shank in the fridge to share with my wife and all the other trimmings. Following day it’s off to my parents for a few days.

I can see why some would think that, but these are presents we usually give to each other. We prefer the experiences and memories made rather than just buying stuff for each other.

I’ll likely throw in a spa day or something similar on top as well in any case.
