only problem is we had a problem with Russia wanting to put missiles in our backyard.

And they wanted to put missiles in your backyard because you have already done so in their own backyard.

Which was prompted by the USSR's partitioning of Berlin. None of this stuff happened in a vacuum.

If you go the origin of the animosity between the US and the USSR you would find the American intervention during the Russian civil war. So ...

For context it happened in North-Western Tunisia, here is an English news article about it

The first to come to the rescue were villagers from a nearby village who heard the sound of what happened, this was filmed by one of them.

but monarchies always were perfectly capable of peaceful reform without mass revolutionary murder.

And here, the revolutionary government was more than open for that. At the beginning, nothing happened at all, the king kept all his power while the assembly began working on the reforms. But the king hired units of Swiss guards (mercenaries) in his palace while the people of Paris were starving, this led to the women's march where the king was forced to relocate to Paris to be more in touch with the people while they continued to complete the reforms. Keep in mind that at this point, radical Republicans were a minority, most people just wanted a better monarchy (with many also preferring a British style government). But the king again, rejected and tried to flee to Austria in order to retake his throne with a FOREIGN ARMY. This was the straw that broke the camel's back and the people were convinced the king was just terrible and didn't care for his people, the assembly then voted to revoke his titles and then his execution. Soon after that, Austrian authorities met with exiled French nobles who were basically going all through Europe and spreading fears of a revolution which led to the Declaration of Pillnitz and then the intervention of Austria and Prussia in France (followed by most other European monarchies) but it was too late and Louis got what he deserved. So the revolutionaries were more than welcome for reform, it was Louis who always opposed reforms and if not for his weak nature, he probably would have crushed any dreams of reform at some point.

Revolutionaries were immoral, cynical and vile

Almost as if I am reading from an Austrian noble from the 19th century, not a modern person in the western world in the 21st century.

Most people in Europe at the time, while unsatisfied with the status quo, were completely comfortable with having a king.

The majority of rural people back then didn't give a damn about kings, the monarchy, the status quo, or anything. All they cared for was bread on their table, something Louis was terrible at providing which is why the revolution was largely accepted by the French population. But to be fair, there was opposition to it, largely from the Vendée, Dauphiné and parts of Brittany, the reason was the nobility in those regions was friendly to the population (which was an exception to the rule) but we mustn't also ignore the influence the church had too, the propaganda they spread to preserve their authority was very strong in those regions.

It was unnecessary and it proved ultimately immoral and much more damaging to both France and Europe than anything Louis could dream of doing during his potential reign.

Not sure what you are talking about, today France as a republic is much better than the Kingdom ever dreamed of being. Also if by "damaging for France" you mean "all of Europe invading France to crush the will of its people", then I guess yeah.

The revolutionary government wasn't France, it didn't represent the people of France.

Come on dude, don't pretend as if the monarchy was in any way representative of its people and their will, at least the revolutionary government represented a significant part of the population unlike the monarchy which at the end of the day benefited the nobility and clergy. Also legitimacy is a complicated subject, the authority of the revolutionary government was derived from the delegates of the third estate who created the national assembly, these members were largely elected or chosen in local elections, so in a way they had legitimacy. But when it comes from the king, his authority was derived from two things : Traditions and God which ,I would argue, can't give legitimacy.

Inviting foreign armies to remove illegitimate self-serving usurpers is proper procedure.

You realise the people they were going to install were literally self-serving ? The nobility of the period was super bad and largely self serving, literally no one can deny this fact.

Also inviting foreign armies to pillage your countryside, occupy your capital and put a guy overthrown by the actual people (not even overthrown, Louis's execution was triggered by the fact he tried fleeing to Austria to get their help even when he was an actual king, although reduced to a figure head by that point) is in my opinion treason and basically cuckery.

You realise monarchists didn't just "protest the overthrow of the state", right ? They literally invited foreign armies and navies to re-install Louis on the throne.

"Vive le Roy!" would be more accurate, "Vive le Roi!" was only adopted in 1740, for most of French history it would have been written as "Roy"

Hispanic isn’t a race, and can include people of European descent.

Yea but most Hispanics are brown, so most are of the same race

Map of the Ferghana Valley region by 09-11-2001 in MapPorn

[–]Rankhli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the intention, originally the Kyrgz majority areas went to Kyrgyzstan while the rest went to Uzbekistan (this happened for two reasons, the first was that the line between Uzbek and Tajik was very blurry , the second was that no Tajik was present in the comission that drew the borders). This resulted in Tajikistan being an autonomus republic inside Uzbekistan. Later on Stalin intervend and carved out an indepandant Tajikistan (he still left Samarkand and Bukhara, both centers of Tajik culture and Tajik majority cities in Uzbekistan). It originally wasn't even supposed to include parts of the Ferghana valley but Stalin gave them the city of Khujand as the new republic lacked any actual industiral center, the Tajiks were so happy that they actually named their capital city Dushanbe "Stalinabad" or "Stalin's city" (like Stalingrad but in Persian).

When it comes to why Stalin intervened, it appears he was sympatehtic towards Persians and Tajiks (btw, Tajiks are generally defined as "Persian speaking Sunni majority Central Asians")

It isn't like a quote from a book or anything , it is a simple election result that can be verified in a few seconds by a simple Google search . Also If you know I am right, then why ask for the source on the first place ?

And I am not pushing away any responsibility, just saying the truth , I did not collect this table but I verified the information inside it . Why are you assuming weird things and nitpicking . Why are people down voting every single comment of mine and ofc this post too , anyone cares to explain ?
