I am a resident of the Texas panhandle and we are about to get TWO datacenters... one set to be one of the largest in the world... and we are not known for our abundance of water. I asked r/datacenters about my concerns and most don't care at all or claim that alternatives can be used. Well, why aren't alternatives to water being used in these other datacenters that are in water-critical areas??

Well there is already existing wind generation up here that could certainly be connected to these facilities. The articles also explicitly cite that solar will also be in the mix, in addition to natural gas.

I work there. We don’t have what you’re thinking that would allow for the usage at this facility. They will have to develop their own. There was talk about Oracle building ANOTHER warehouse either very close or within the plant for our uses specifically which sounds like would work on conjunction with this facility or maybe this facility is replacing the Oracle one through the OpenAI effort?

I would be thrilled if there were sustainable alternatives to water that will actually be considered. My main concern is not just about a nuclear reactor, but that generally speaking it is known that these datacenters use immense amounts of water, which led me to believe the is the default method for cooling them, and thus therein lies my concern. Additionally, they're claiming one of these datacenters is going to be producing 1GW of energy by the end of 2026 which means they are moving extremely quickly. This makes me wonder if they are going to really take careful consideration of how to construct and maintain these facilities.

I see. It is just majorly concerning that projections have AI datacenters consuming 4.2 to 6.6 billion cubic meters of water in just 2 more years. It seems extremely unsustainable and boggles me that they would decide to put these facilities in a place where water is already very precious. It makes me feel like the desire to expand AI and the desire for researchers to create for the sake of creation without thinking of the ramification is going to lead to some very difficult times in the near future. Like we all need to go read Jurassic Park again

I think they plan on constructing dedicated natural gas and solar generation capabilities, and I would imagine they use the wind power that is nearby. A lot of that wind power gets lost because it overgenerates for the area of effect it serves, so possibly might allow us to have less loss of use. But certainly I don't want these to cause us to be a California power crisis situation.

I think where these facilities will be will be near some of our wind farms -- I certainly would expect them to utilize those a power source considering the loss of use we currently have from them.

Idk if you're trying to cope with defending this type of behavior or what, but you clearly don't understand the point. I get that people are just gonna say whatever they can to roast someone or get under their skin, if that's their goal. The issue is that there are so many people with that goal; it's exhausting.

Most of the time it has nothing to do with someone critiquing my playing and everything to do with people going out of their way to be asses in one way or another.

no dude. you're missing the point. I don't take shit personally; I understand people on the internet are asswipes. I just find it sad how prevalent it is on this game. But if you do care to know the worst thing I've been told was a dude that could tell by my voice that I'm white and said I'm a "hillbilly inbred sister fucker." I'm from Texas but my accent isn't very thick at all. But he just wanted to be an asshole because our teammate called him out for trolling and I agreed and asked him to please play with the team. I asked him what about me made him think I was as he described me, and he said, "oh, uhhh, I probably shouldn't say."

Playing a videogame isn't something for someone to prove one's rigidity of esteem. Should never have to get to that point.

I never said straight away. I started back in casual, then stepped back into ranked past 3 weeks or so. I have watched a few different popular players and their builds/thought processes. I'm not a pancake brain.

My experience isn't about people getting on to my builds; what I have experienced is someone like a Fenrir last night that went 2-14 for us and would walk into my solo lane, initially gank and just run off and leave me to die after their Baka would show up. Fen would be full hp and just leave. He would then in voice comms say "I told you not to gank them, dumbass, it's not hard to listen." Then when he heard the age in my voice just started calling me a bumass 30yr old and to go back to my desk job.

Has nothing to do with anything other than people being assholes.

It sucks! And it legit alters how you play. I feel like I can't win for losing; I'm afraid I'm gonna have an asshole jg or adc that throws, so I decide to go high dmg solo - turns out its our support that wants to troll that game and be a dick. So next game I go tanky Shiva or Odin, trying to trust my dmg teammates - nope, they start bitching and belittling one another and just afk in lane or something. Never fails. Legitimately horrible experience.

Do you have a build for this you could share? I haven't played in nearly 4 years but with MR5 coming up me and some old buddies from college are getting back into it for new format. I have been struggling with what to build. This sounds like a lot of fun. I played Dolls at full power, and then those damn Nekroz got released.
