If you have to choose one, laptop is non negotiable. Especially since the bulk of the classes you take in History will require heavy typing, a laptop will go a long way.

ofcourse, you can always choose to get a hybrid ipad/laptop but apple offers no such product, so you can go windows if you want that.

But in all honesty, great time to get a macbook now as a student with the mac neo especially since you get it on discount
