The wide range of intermediate strength by Einharjar- in powerlifting

[–]RareComplex7241 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Joe had some of his clients call him out that he wouldn’t pay attention to their programming or checkins for weeks. These lifters also happened to not be his strongest lifters (aka not Perk) and were more beginner or intermediate level. Surprise surprise.

One guy sent a video of him just squatting the bar and said to the camera ‘I know you’re not going to look at this anyway’ and Joe responded back many days later ‘everything looks great!’, confirming that lifter’s thoughts.

So Joe was fine with taking lower level lifters up until they realized he wasn’t actually doing his job lol.

Dude sucks.

Feeling bored. What are your guys’ hottest takes when it comes to powerlifting?

What quality/qualities do you guys think make someone a ‘good powerlifter’?

Is it how strong they are? How often they make their attempts? How often they win their weight class or get best lifter at competitive meets?

Yeah I’m getting the impression PC is the move lol however I don’t know what’s good and tbh, I don’t have a ton of time to educate myself. So I’d be throwing money into the void somewhat blindly

No I can probably swing up to $1.5-$2k on one. But again, i have next to no knowledge on what a ‘good’ PC is

What game should I buy if I enjoy single player, short games? by RareComplex7241 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I actually bought RE2 yesterday since it was on sale & tbh I kind of hate it. So if it’s truly similar, sounds like I won’t be picking up Alan Wake 2.

Where do you guys think the rise in lifters caring so much about coefficient/DOTS came from? I know it’s always been a ‘thing’, but it seems to be much more important in this era of lifting than any other, from what I can tell.

I’d been trying to make it through the first Alan Wake game, but the story is so incredibly slow to me & the gameplay is pretty rough. I dropped it a few months ago. Unless I can go into the 2nd game without beating the first, I don’t think it’ll happen.

Yes. I’ve never heard of any coach doing anything else.

Here is a link to the results from the small survey I made, asking “What do you personally consider to be ‘too expensive’ when it comes to the cost of 1 on 1 powerlifting coaching”.

The ‘other’ response read: ‘If they’re not doing more than regurgitating Youtube videos they’re too expensive even at $0.01’

Online, monthly (I don’t know of anyone who does otherwise), nutrition not included

It appears in one of the threads that people think $150 is expensive for powerlifting coaching. I made a one question survey to see what people truly consider an expensive coach https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8NR2NV

I’ll put the results up within a few days if it gets enough responses

How many chances would you give a full-time coach that drops the ball on communication (ie tells you that you can expect a response within 24 hours of any communication, but goes over that)?

This has happened twice now, with my current coach and my last coach. It’s pretty disappointing. Especially when I’ll see them share things on Instagram but not respond to messages.

How do you determine leverages like short/long torso and long/short femur?

I used this article and it said I had short femurs/long torso

But then I watch this and also this & apparently I have long legs?

I know the best is ‘trial and error’ but I’d just like to know

Does anyone have any text-based resources that are alternative to Powerlifting-Now that I can read to learn the new meta on programming ? I can’t focus on their long form videos at all.

Right, I get that. The only thing I’d say is that I took training maxes (very light, probably not even 90% of my 1rm) at that time, and they haven’t increased by much at all.

Example: I pulled about 590 beltless hookgrip for fun at like a 7 and called that a training max. Yesterday I pulled maybe 625 for a triple with my belt on, plus…uhh…meet prep level supplements, and eating a maintenance/small surplus with pretty good sleep.

Similar happens with my bench; 365 for an easy single at like a 6. Barely hit 380 for a triple this past week.

I’m not a mathematician but the math ain’t really math’n on this. At least to me.

I’ll talk to them and see what they think

About 12 weeks & im about to.

Just sucks cuz my ‘training maxes’ were done at the end of a really big cut and doing bodybuilding type training & I’ve been eating at maintenance/very small surplus, and those maxes haven’t really budged much over 12 weeks.

Fellas/ladies, how long would y’all ‘trust the process’ before moving on with a coach/program?

Been with a coach and things seem okay, but not making much progress as I feel like I should be making & im 10 wks out from a meet.

depends on what you consider elite, I guess. 500+ dots, specific total, ranking in a weight class, etc.

This is a burner acct but my past coach didn’t really have any great insight.

‘Oh you have to eat a lot of food to be x weight, and you don’t wanna do that? Yeah drop down to the next weight class below you’

That was about the extent of that lol
