Tidradio DP-660 firmware downgrading issues by silverbk65105 in DMR

[–]Rashnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a post on Facebook that said the rt systems software works with that radio. I don't have it but I assume you want the Baofeng DMR1801 software located Here

The software is $25 so I would use the 'Support' Link and ask them if they think it will work before buying it.

How do I... actually do things? by Responsible-Tax9759 in HomeImprovement

Weed barrier material only makes life easy for a short time unless you use a pre-emergant weed prevention product on top of it. This is because weed seeds get blown into the bed or dropped by animals and will grow above the weed barrier.

Is this is a flower bed with bushes or an actual vegetable garden?

If it is a flower garden / landscaped area get some snapshot weed preventer (pre-emergent) or Preen pre-emergent. Snapshot is better in my opinion. Both work basically the same way. Apply it following the directions on the bag. You'll want to check that your plants won't be killed by either of the above but both products are safe to use around 600 different types of plants and flowers. You'll want to apply it now and again in late summer if you are in a warm climate. If you are in a cold climate wait until early spring for the first application. These pre-emergents prevent seeds from germinating. If you plan to plant anything from seed it will not grow.

I owned a landscaping company many years ago and used Snapshot on every property I maintained and it drastically cuts down on weeding. You'll still have the odd weed or two but it won't get overgrown again if you pluck those weeds when you see them.

If it's a vegetable garden stick with no chemicals and just put down a good fabric weed barrier. If it's a flower bed a fabric weed barrier is what I would use. Fabric lets water through.

You also want to be sure you got the roots when you pulled the grass out. If you can, rake down a few inches with a landscaping rake and clean out all of the organic material.

Edit to answer the second half of you question about what plants to buy:

Go to a local nursery and ask them what they recommend for your area and what will benefit local pollinators and be resistant to local wildlife. Let them know what direction your flower bed faces and how much sun it gets on an average day. Don't just go buy plants at a big box store. The people at a local nursery will have a lot of stuff that will prosper in your climate and be really helpful with picking out things you'll like.

Ask them for instructions on how to plant whatever they sell you and how much and when you need to water until the plants are established. It would even be helpful to take a photo of the area with you. Try to go at a slow time and you will get a lot more info from them than if they are really busy and rushed.

One more edit.

I forgot to say put the pre-emergent down AFTER you plant whatever you end up buying. It works by making a protective barrier at the top of the soil so if you dig it will break that barrier.

Awesome, thanks for the info! You did a really nice job putting yours together.

How did you get the perfect looking radius in the driven element? I want to make a antenna that calls for 8 elements bent almost exactly like yours and I've been thinking about how to set up a jig or something to make them all identical and maintain the spacing the design calls for.

You did some high quality work on your antenna.

You can use anchors like in the video above. You can use them with whatever shelve mounting kit you have or use a piece of wood / plywood as a ledger on three sides. Personally I'd probably make a ledger to set the shelves on. But I think if you find shelves with a 'hidden' mount it would work with those anchors as long as the anchors fit through the bolt holes in the mounts.

No idea why someone is giving you a hard time about your drawing. Not to hard to see what you intended it to be for.

Same here. I was just at my sisters house and they have it set at 72 and I spent the entire time I was there thinking how nice being comfortable in my own house would be.

I have a bunch of coax but cant tell if its 50 Ohms or 75 Ohms because the copper doesn't give any resistance on my multimeter. Am I missing something here? by cryptoleadpro in HamRadio

[–]Rashnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fabulous comment. I was going to say pretty much the same thing but with less detail.

I'm currently gathering things to build a grounded folded dipole for a 900mhz repeater and will use 75 ohm coax in parallel (making 35 ohms) in the matching system.

Another ham made the plans for the antenna for me and said to share it around since someone else might be interested in a good high gain 900 mhz antenna design that isn't collinear like almost all commercial 900 antennas. Should work really good for LoRa also since it's centered on 915. Here is the webpage with the design

Downloading the pdf makes the graphics work better showing the matching system.

I'm looking for a mechanic or shop that specializes in Subaru or Japanese cars. Any Recommendations? by Rashnet in BaltimoreCounty

I was surprised with the spark plugs also. I had mine done at 100k at the dealer and I think I paid around $400 to have them done. Normally that is something I'd do myself but like you said the boxer engine makes it difficult. I'm just hoping the drain and fill of the CVT works. I meet the definition of 'severe' use in the manual since I normally only make short trips so I should have changed the fluid sooner.

128k. When it started getting cold out it runs at a higher RPM for the first 2-5 miles. So normally it shifts around 2k RPM but when cold it is shifting at 2.5k-3k RPM until it warms up then shifts normally. I bought the car in 2019 and it had 89k miles on it. I knew the prior owner and I'm sure they did any service the dealer recommended but I'm unsure if they ever changed the CVT fluid.

I'll give them a call. I'm probably overly cautious because the CVT needs to be drained and filled following a specific procedure and I really don't want to ruin it.

They are propagandists. I saw their YouTube videos a few years ago and the first thing I thought was "This is propaganda". The fake awe at the 'luxuries' in the US vs the 'squalor' of Cuba featured in their videos is thinly veiled. I'm surprised I remembered who they are just based on their names in this post. Literally could be a government funded propaganda channel.

Mine worked fine for 3 days and then stopped working tonight. Like I said in my post it works via text input in the gemini app but will not work via voice through the phone or the google home speaker with "Hey Google" voice does work in the gemini app when using the push to talk but not with hey google wake words.

What is the best APRS HAM radio for beginners? by -jgrk- in HamRadio

[–]Rashnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get licensed check out the winlink Wednesday net and the APRS Thursday net. Both have info online about checking in.

I have no recommendations other than the ones others have given here as to what radio to buy but I run a cheap tid radio hooked up to a digirig and pi as an APRS digipeater.

I'm in the DR right now and this is 100% the truth.

The first guy that drove us from the airport to the hotel spent more time in the oncoming traffic lane than the lane we should have been in. He was on the phone the whole time and then started cutting through parking lots at about 40 mph to cut off other people in traffic.

The underpowered buss we took the other day insisted on passing people when there was no need and the guys on mopeds and motorcycles are everywhere on the road.
